About me and my therapy practice

I am an Integrative counsellor working with adults on a wide range of issues, in particular anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and addiction.

Using an integrative approach which draws on different methods of counselling to suit your individual needs, my down-to-earth personality will put you at ease and offers you an equal partnership in your counselling experience. I have a keen focus on empowering my clients by providing a safe space to explore who you are, what your needs are, and ultimately what you are capable of achieving. I firmly believe that in identifying the root causes of our current behaviours we can unlock the opportunity to change how we move forward in our lives.

I have a background in the MoD, both working as a civilian and living within the military which has given me a valuable insight into how 2 contrasting ways of life can work together but still have its challenges. I welcome serving members of the armed forces and veterans.

I have had the privilege of working in Women's Support Centre and the Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre offering counselling to vulnerable clients who were looking to take back some form of control in their lives.

I have experience of using short-term, solution-focused therapy for the NHS for the management of anxiety and depression.

As well as my private practice, I also currently work for the prison service providing counselling for clients in recovery from alcohol and substance use disorder.

Practice description

Sessions are 50 minutes, both online and face to face.

Payments for online sessions are made by BACS or invoiced and required before the session. I accept card, cash or BACS for face to face sessions.

Cancellations within 24 hours will still be charged at full rate. There will be times when you feel that you are not up to facing therapy on certain days which will make you consider cancelling your session, but from experience, these are usually the most therapeutic sessions!

My first session

We will start with a short telephone chat to give you the opportunity to establish your needs and what your expectations are of therapy. Once we are both happy to begin our work together, we will find a suitable time to book in our first session. In that session, we will review our working contract together, outlining confidentiality and boundaries which are necessary for the therapeutic process. As the need arises, I will review our sessions to make sure we are still working towards your needs or if any changes are necessary.
