About me and my therapy practice
I believe we all come to points in our lives when we need some extra support. This could be due to recent trauma, a desire to work through events in our past, the need for some extra support as we face life dilemmas, or just the desire to talk things through in a kind and empathetic space.
I take an integrative approach to counselling, meaning that my approach can be adapted to any different needs that you may present with. I have experience working with a variety of complex issues.
I take a completely non-judgemental approach, so you can feel safe that I will not be shocked by anything you wish to discuss, and that everything you tell me will remain confidential.
Practice description
I offer online, phone therapy, and in person sessions. Each session lasts 50 minutes. Our work together is open-ended, meaning that we will have the flexibility to decide together how many sessions are best for your needs. This could range from just a few weeks to many years, the most important thing is finding what's best for you.
My first session
I believe that successful counselling is founded on a good quality relationship between therapist and client, so I offer an introductory first session where we can get to know each other, and decide if we want to work together.
In our first session, I will typically cover confidentiality, explain how the counselling process works and introduce you to myself. I will have some pre-prepared questions about your history and what brings you to counselling, but the way this works is very flexible, and I find that each session varies according to what the individual client wants to get out of therapy. The session will end with us discussing how to move forward. I will always give you time to consider whether you want to commit to moving forwards with therapy together, as it's important that you take time to find the right therapist for you.
