About me and my therapy practice
There are so many therapists to choose from! It can be daunting, but don't worry, there isn't a bad choice, just go with your instincts. If you're unhappy, you're in the right place to do something about it. You want things to change, but you don't know what or how. Somewhere everything went off track. You’re not fulfilled but you don’t seem to have the time for anything you want to do. Perhaps you’re lacking confidence or don’t know where you’re trying to get to. You’re trying to ignore the nagging feelings of gloom, but it’s bringing you down. I can help you to understand what is holding you back. I can help you to see things more clearly, to be the best that you can be and make the happy and satisfying life you want to have a reality. Nurture your mental health now, before it becomes mental ill health.
I work in an integrative, person-centred way to make sure that the therapy I offer is suitable for you. I am a patient, reassuring and empathic counsellor. I can be inquisitive and challenging when needed, to help you get to the bottom of is troubling you. I believe that the client-therapist relationship is at the heart of the counselling I provide, and we will work together to help you to feel better.
Practice description
Seeking counselling is not a sign of weakness, it is a sign of strength that you are taking control and making the first step towards feeling better. Life events and changes can bring out a number of unexpected and difficult emotions. I have extensive experience with issues of bereavement and grief, chronic illness, anxiety, depression, domestic abuse and self-confidence, to name but a few. I put the client at the heart of my work, and want to work with you on the journey of self-discovery and change that counselling provides. You deserve to be happy, and together we can make that happen.
My first session
When we first start, I will ask you some questions about yourself and the main issues that brought you to counselling. I will also explain more about how counselling works and what to expect. You can also ask any questions you might have. I want you to feel as comfortable as possible to get the most out of our sessions together.
Types of therapy
CBT, Humanistic, Integrative, Person centred
Clients I work with
Adults, EAP, Older adults, Young people

About me and my therapy practice
Are you unhappy? I provide face-to-face counselling in Nunthorpe to help you understand why. You want things to change, but you don't know what or how. Somewhere everything went off track. You’re not fulfilled but you don’t seem to have the time for anything you want to do. Perhaps you’re lacking confidence or don’t know where you’re trying to get to. I am a counsellor. I am also a Mum, a wife, a yoga & cocktail lover (not usually at the same time!). I’m a book reader, a Trekkie and a secret Kit-Kat eater! Before I became a counsellor I worked as a business manager for 20 years. All of this experience gives me a wider perspective on understanding how you feel because I’m a real person. A person you can tell things to without being judged. A person you can tell secrets to safe in the knowledge they’ll be kept forever and a person who wants to understand how you really feel, without you having to pretend or filter what you say. I want to help you to feel better. I just need you to want that too. I’m waiting to meet you, so send me a message now
