About me and my therapy practice
I am Bee (Bronwen), I am Neurodiverse, part of the LGBTQ+ community.
I am an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) therapist, as well as a Counsellor (if you have seen other profiles of mine). This is a technique used to help process specific memories, or difficulties associated with difficult lived-experiences.
My experience, is extensive, from Private Counselling/EMDR to working with a range of Charities. I have experience working within NHS settings and Employment services.
The Counselling and EMDR, I provide is supported by regular Supervision and Continued learning to enrich the Counselling provided.
I have sound experience and understanding of Trauma, how this can effect our brain, our body and ultimately, our overall wellbeing.
I utilise trauma-based theories such as the Polyvagal theories, Somatic theory and Mindfulness, to supplement the EMDR sessions.
Practice description
Looking, thinking and coming to Counselling is an individual decision.
I see everyone as their own person, with their own life, and their own experiences. I aim to provide a safe space for you share what you need too. I can walk along side you, through the experiences you share. My role is to hear you without judgement and with compassion. With a Person-Centred approach, I see myself as equal, as best as possible, to you. My aim, is to help you connect with experiences, emotions and aspects of your self.
Whether you are struggling with your self esteem, issues related to your sexuality, gender identity, grief and loss, employment stress, I can offer a space to explore this and this can be helpful in terms of processing, understanding and growing from these experiences.
EMDR:
Coming to therapy can be daunting, especially if you are struggling with trauma. It can feel confusing and scary. This technique helps you to process what you have experienced, even when an addiction and/or self harm started. Unlike some other techniques, you do not have to go into details of the trauma if you do not wish. You also do not have to share this with me as the therapist, especially if you feel shame around the event.
Often EMDR is used for a specific event, however, it can also be used for other, long term events, although this may take more time to process. EMDR is a specific therapeutic technique and it does follow a structured approach.
It can be challenging but helpful. It will not necessary 'get rid' of your experiences but it can help you feel less distressed, and see what happened more objectively and therefore can be empowering.
My first session
I offer a brief introductory session to establish what you would like to get from coming to counselling, even if you are not sure of this, that is ok. This initial session is completed via telephone/video call.
From this session, we can agree to further sessions, if you feel you would like to.
If you would like to discuss starting Counselling with myself, please feel free to get in touch by email.

I offer a brief, introductory session where we establish whether you feel comfortable with myself, and for me to answer any questions.
The following session can be either an EMDR session and/or a Counselling session. An EMDR session would involve what you would like to get from EMDR, some psycho education of the process and to see if you feel you would like to continue with myself. I appreciate trauma can be difficult. Even in the initial session you do not have to go into details that you are not comfortable sharing.
EMDR involves a number of Phases and can be fairly extensive in the overall length. All Phases are important, including the initial phases where we gain a picture of what is bringing you to EMDR, stabilisation phases and then the processing phases. The following EMDR sessions are £50 per hour.
