About me and my therapy practice

Feeling stuck or has change been imposed on you?

These feelings are often caused by the act or process of losing something or someone (including yourself).

For example, bereavement, job loss or a relationship split, family and friendship rifts, parenting issues, moving location, expat life, retirement and health issues, loneliness or general insecurity.

All the above can lead to stress, anxiety and/or depression if ignored or aggravate those conditions if already present.

Practice description

I offer a free 30 minute session to see if we are a good match. It's important as a client that you feel you are able to build a relationship with me where you feel supported and understood in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment, even in the most difficult of circumstances.

My aim is to work at your pace. I won't push you to talk about things that you aren't ready to talk about.

Together, we will explore what is going on for you now.

At the same time, we will look at how events and emotions in the past have influenced your feelings and your behaviour.

Moving forward with this awareness, we will explore how you can adapt and make changes. We will work on developing practical skills to help reduce your anxiety and build the resilience that you need for improved self-confidence and overall well-being.

My first session

1. We will start with a free 30 minute session to see if we are a suitable match. It may be useful if you put a list of questions together to ask me, this will allow you to make an informed decision.

2. I will email you a client consent form to complete before the first session.

3. In our first session I will ask you a series of questions to get an idea of what you want from the sessions and an understanding of what is going on for you at the moment.

4. Counselling starts.

About me and my therapy practice

Is there a critical voice in your head putting you down and questioning your abilities which is leading to low self-esteem?  

Are you struggling to deal with a relationship or friendship/family issues?  

Do you find you have a clash of values between your personal and professional life?

Are you feeling overwhelmed with sadness or stuck in the fog of grief after a medical diagnosis or the death of a loved one?

When life presents us with challenges and difficulties, we can sometimes navigate these issues with the help of friends and family. However, there are moments when we may feel stuck or overwhelmed. In such times, I can provide a fresh perspective by building awareness of how anxiety may distort reality and instill self-limiting beliefs. We can look at challenging negative thoughts, set small goals and practice self-compassion to help you face your fears.

Equally, you don’t need to be at crisis point to see a therapist. Talking to a therapist can help give shape and voice to any general feelings of discontent or unease and hopefully give you the comfort that you are not alone.

In our confidential sessions, we'll look at what brings you to therapy.  At the same time we will explore how events and emotions in the past have influenced your feelings and your behaviour.  By looking at both the past and the present, we can gain a better understanding of your current needs and how to meet them going forward.

I have extensive experience working with stress, anxiety and depression, with a particular interest in issues arising from life transitions or dealing with change, whether it is because you feel stuck and may not know what to do next or because you have had change thrust upon you.  For example, job loss, career change, retirement, bereavement, living with illness or a diagnosis, a relationship split, family and friendship issues, expat life, health issues, dealing with ADHD, anxiety, depression or loneliness.
