About me and my therapy practice
Seeking support through counselling is an important first step to helping you with issues that you are currently facing, that are affecting you in your day-to-day life. This can be for all sorts of reasons including, support at a particularly difficult time when coping with anxiety, stress, depression, loss or bereavement; relationship difficulties, employment issues, retirement, ill health or loneliness. Counselling can be particularly effective if there's a change you want to make in your life. I can be there to help and support you with this. You've taken the first step in a new chapter in your life!
I'm a qualified Integrative Counsellor working with adults who have experienced depression, anxiety, bereavement, abuse and also low self-esteem and low self-confidence, addiction, relationship problems, OCD, anger management and family issues.
Building on the foundation of this will help us to explore what you are seeking help with and to hopefully assist better understanding of the issue that you are bringing. I believe that you are the expert and have the answers and solutions to your issues
I have worked in the social care sector working with older people for 25+ years and I've been a Registered Manager with the Care Quality Commission for 18 years. I have also recently facilitated a carers' support group.
I can also offer Older people's counselling, as I have experience of working with individuals living with dementia and the impact this has on them as well as their partner and family and making the big decision for themselves or a loved one to move into a care home.
I also have experience of managing a team and the stresses that this can bring along with other workplace issues when working with colleagues and clients.
I understand the issues and pressures of being in a managerial role generally and specifically when working as a manager in a care home
I offer a neutral safe space to be heard, listened to and understood in a non-judgmental way.
Practice description
I offer in-person, online and telephone sessions.
I hold the in-person, face-to-face, counselling sessions in a purpose-built garden cabin space which was created to provide a mindful, calming and safe environment for the benefit of clients. The cabin space is easily accessible by road and local transport links

My first session
I offer an initial free 20 minute consultation for you to talk about what you want to bring to counselling and your aims of the sessions. Also, it will give an opportunity to see if I am a good fit for you and your presenting issue and that we can both work together. Prior to the first session, I will send you an assessment form for you to complete as little or as much as you wish.
The assessment form will give relevant information about you and the reasons that you are seeking counselling. The assessment form will also include any goals that you may have during your counselling sessions.
