About me and my therapy practice

Im a Person-Centred counsellor at my core with psychodynamic, breathwork, mindfulness and somatic training. I will listen to you without judgement about how you are feeling now. I will provide a safe space for you to talk, give a sense of holding and containing, whilst helping you to make meaning. I may reflect back what I hear, notice and sense or ask questions to help you explore and find clarity. We will explore your concerns and worries at your pace to find your answers.

You may decide to have just a few sessions or long-term counselling, it’s up to you, you’re in control and we will discuss this. You may find weekly sessions are most beneficial at first but fortnightly is okay too.

I truly believe in our innate ability to grow and change through experiencing; acceptance, unconditional positive regard and empathic understanding in a safe therapeutic relationship. It is then that you will feel able to look within, find your answers and ability to make choices that are right for you.

You can gain a new perspective as you work through your issues or concerns perhaps breaking free of the values others have placed upon you.

Further CPD training I have taken enables me to offer suggestions to help calm anxiety and ground you, or simple explanations of how and why our body and mind can react in certain ways to life’s struggles and injustice.

Whether its anxiety, stress, work or relationship issues, low mood, loss, past trauma/s or just struggling with life right now, counselling with the ‘right counsellor for you’ can help.

Practice description

Im a compassionate soul offering you a safe space to explore & work things through.

Issues predominant in my practise are: anxiety, stress, low mood, work/relationship issues, imposter syndrome, loss, past trauma/s. I'm here to listen, give you space to be heard and to heal. We will explore together at your pace helping you reconnect to your inner sense of self, finding confidence in your future.

You can gain a new perspective as you work through your issues or concerns perhaps breaking free of the values others have placed upon you.

In person at my garden room in Earl Shilton

A peaceful therapy room awaits you.

Outdoor counselling

I offer counselling sessions in a beautiful woodland near open fields and a meadow, where we can stroll as we work together or perhaps sit for part or all of the session.

Some find that opening up is easier walking side by side or that sitting in a room feels too intense, perhaps eye contact is not comfortable for you. Walking can also help release body stored emotions and tension, moving can aid the flow or process of therapy.

Online

We can meet on Teams or What’s App. I have a confidential office/therapy room in my home. Please consider you will need a place you cannot be overheard and feel comfortable to talk freely.

Me & my experience

Im passionate about counselling and nature. Carl Rogers (founder of person-centred therapy) matches my values and ethos and why I choose this path.

As does Buddhism and a religious faith…not that I bring that to my work, but it is part of me that builds my compassion for others and our world.

Well, I have quite a variety of life experience that bought me to where I am now; from travelling and working in Europe, being a parent, working with minority groups teaching basic skills to a career in horticulture. ADHD, ASD, anxiety, transgender issues, cancer scares, loss, hysterectomy and menopause are some of what’s happened around me, not all to me!

My first session

I offer an initial free, no obligation 20-minute zoom or telephone appointment.

You can ask any questions or concerns you might have and we can get a feel to see if im the right counsellor for you.

If you decide to go ahead, we will arrange a mutually convenient time for your first session.

The first session is a little different, i will talk through all practicalities covering a working agreement, GDPR and then ill be asking a few questions as we talk through an assessment.

An assessment enables me to find out a little more about you, the most important issues to you, your hopes for counselling and decide how and when we will work together.

You may then choose to work outside indoors, in nature, online or by telephone. Sessions are £45 for 50 minutes.
