About me and my therapy practice
You as a person are at the centre of my approach to therapy. When life is a struggle, it can be surprisingly helpful to speak to someone who really listens, carefully, warmly, and without judgement. It can be a starting point to finding a way forward, especially if it is currently difficult to speak to those around you or you're going around in circles with an intractable issue.
My approach is to work with you to help you achieve your objectives and to help develop a more understanding and accepting relationship to yourself. Ultimately everyone is their own life expert. By working together, we can help fine tune this expertise.
If you're struggling to deal with a whole host of the following challenges such as self-loathing, anxiety, depression, complex relationships with those around you, grief/loss, racial trauma, sexuality, gender dysphoria then as an experienced psychotherapist, I can work with you towards developing a better relationship with yourself and others.
Practice description
We live in challenging times where it is sometimes difficult to see the wood for the trees with the various demands, issues and obligations that modern life throws at us.
Lqa therapy is a confidential counselling service which aims to create a safe holding space to enable you to explore what you're facing without judgement. Lqa therapy is run by me, Luq Adejumo, a psychotherapist (accredited with the UKCP & Pink Therapy and registered with the BACP) currently working online. I work with adults (18+) offering both short and long-term psychotherapy depending on client need.
I had a professional background in advertising for 25 years prior to becoming a psychotherapist. This blend of professional experiences enables me to work with clients who are looking to overcome any challenges, especially around race, sexuality, gender, culture and creating a work/life balance.
I am also a clinical supervisor in training and I currently offer a low cost clinical supervision.
My first session
I carry out an assessment as part of the first session to understand the challenges that you are facing, address any concerns you may have, and for us both to get to know each other a little bit. We will then try to ascertain if therapy is the most appropriate next step.
For arrangements on the day, it is helpful if you can find somewhere with a good internet connection and some privacy.
There is no particular need to prepare anything, but you can do so if you prefer.
