About me and my therapy practice

I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor who works with a wide range of difficulties, from addiction to bereavement, from depression to redundancy. I work with people from all walks of life including young people over 18 and I welcome neurodiverse clients.

We all benefit from having someone to talk to about our problems I offer you a safe, non-judgemental environment for you to share your thoughts and feelings.

I work with you to help you understand these feelings and thoughts you are having so we can find the answers to your questions about your life.

We often tell ourselves stories about what kind of people we are, these stories can often be critical or limiting.

It is my role to help you understand the origins of these stories and help you to start looking at how to change.

If you feel this is right for you, please get in touch and we can arrange a free telephone consultation.

Practice description

My work is focussed on helping those people struggling with their thoughts and feelings, and giving a warm and safe space to talk about them – perhaps for the first time – and learning how these arose. From that awareness comes our ability to change

I listen in a compassionate way and without judgement either in the room together or online.

I work across south Manchester and in some cases, I am able to do home visits.

My experience with Mencap as a support worker and working as a Teaching assistant at a specialist primary school for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities has given me an understanding of the emotional needs of young people and neurodiverse clients. The patience and empathy I bring in here informs all my work.

Do you need someone to listen to your worries and your beliefs about yourself?

Many of us think and feel this way but feel alone as we do not share how we feel. A kind, non-judgemental ear can really help you to feel heard and accepted.

I am trained in Transactional Analysis which us to understand the interactions that we have with others, and to better understand why you think and feel the way you do and how we can begin feel more in charge of our own lives.

You are okay, you have the ability to think and you have the ability to change the parts of your life you want to change.

My first session

I offer a free 10 minute telephone consultation to new clients so we can get to know a little bit about each other. We will also talk about what brings you to therapy and what you would like to achieve in our sessions together.

In our first full session together, we will do an assessment to find out more about you and to help us start get to know each other. Talking about health and family, work and home helps to ease our way into the counselling and therapy. We talk about your expectations and aims for this counselling and begin to create that space in which we feel safe and comfortable to talk freely.
