About me and my therapy practice
I offer a warm and non-judgmental space where you can feel safe and deeply connect with your vulnerable self. When this connection is made, it can bring us to a profound self-discovery where the most intimate emotions, thoughts, memories, and wounds can arise and be processed.
I believe therapy is a space where you can remove the different ‘masks’ you wear during your day-to-day life and give space to whatever is behind. I will support you in exploring your thoughts, beliefs, views, and feelings which will lead to more self-awareness, understanding, and compassion.
I truly believe we all have the answers we seek and being in a supported and safe space we will allow them to arise.
In my sessions, I work in a personal-centred way where values such as empathy, non-judgment, and unconditional positive regard are at the forefront. Since I am an Integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of approaches according to what seems to fit you, your challenge, and your stage of life. I use tools from CBT, Psychodynamic, Coaching, and Mindfulness.
I strongly believe in the power of the mind-body connection, and I use somatic tools which I draw from Mindfulness and Breathwork training (qualified), and Embodied psychotherapy (in training towards qualification). Somatic psychotherapy is about accessing and using information from your body and your nervous system to increase your self-awareness. All emotions and thoughts have a body connection, and in therapy, we learn to discover what that connection is about. Grounding through the experience of the body we “re-claim” the body as a safe place to be, which creates a safer place for insight to develop.
I am currently undertaking more in-depth PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) training, such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), to better support people with complex trauma.
My first session
The first session will be focused on assessing your needs and preferences. Also, we will explore what brought you to counselling and what is your goal for therapy. This information is key in order to tailor the approach according to you and your specific requirements.
