About me and my therapy practice
Hello. I am a Counsellor/Psychotherapist registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I am committed to helping clients discover their potential by building a trusting therapeutic relationship, to enable change to happen. If this sounds like something you might have been looking for, please get in touch and together we can see if we think we would be a good match.
I have a counselling room in Maidstone which is a safe, comfortable and confidential space. I also offer telephone and online counselling, so if you’re not local or would simply prefer online sessions, we can arrange them remotely.
Alongside my private practice, I am a counsellor for Wellbeing in the Arts, a charity which supports people in the entertainment world. I also volunteered for many years as a counsellor for patients and their families at a local hospice.
I have a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and a BA (Hons) degree in history. Prior to qualifying as a counsellor, I worked as a solicitor for many years and I am familiar with the stresses and strains of a demanding career and the issues that can arise from changing careers. This varied background gives me a wider perspective and can add a different dimension to our relationship.
Practice description
Counselling can help
For many of us there are times when life and relationships do not run smoothly, when we feel in need of extra support and time to talk and explore the things that are causing us to struggle. These can be a whole range of issues including death, grief and bereavement, family, marriage and relationship concerns, anxiety and depression, money worries, work and career problems, loneliness, going through transitional stages, fear about the future, and ageing.
If you are finding it hard to deal with life's difficulties, including any of the above, now might be the right time to talk to someone.
I’m an integrative counsellor, which means I believe there isn’t just one therapeutic approach for all situations. In my work, I draw on a number of different psychotherapy theories and approaches, using the ones that are most suitable and beneficial. The main approaches I use are Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Whichever approach is used, my overriding aim is to allow a therapeutic relationship to form between us that is caring and non-judgmental. Without this, there can be no effective or meaningful therapy.
My approach is to work alongside you, and help you through whatever it is that brings you to counselling. You will always be at the centre of everything we do, and the sessions will always be led by what you want to talk about.
The duration of therapy is mutually decided and can be short or long term.
We are all unique and we all have important stories to tell about our lives. I offer a safe place to tell your story and to be heard with compassion, without judgment.
