About me and my therapy practice

At the centre of how I work is you. You are the expert in your life and I will work with you to help you get what you need from therapy. I offer a non-judgemental, open-minded space for you to talk through, process, discuss or learn to cope with the upsets, struggles, anxieties and problems that life gives us.

I believe that what we have gone through in our pasts affects us in our present; shapes how we think, feel and behave and become stuck in unhelpful patterns. My hope is through therapy we can look into your past, present and help you feel empowered to control, change or shape your future. It may be that we help you just to feel at one with your life. Or we can use the hour we have together for you to just offload the days struggles, having that other person there, who offers no judgement, who sits and listens empathically can we help us.

I have nearly 10 years’ experience in working within various Mental Health settings and organisations and have worked with teenagers, young adults and adults of different races, cultures, gender and sexual identities. I have worked with different issues from anxiety to selective mutism from gender dysmorphia to trauma, though I can work with multiple issues as life isn't that straight forward. I am passionate about my work and understand the powerful affect therapy and counselling can have on your life. That is why I aim to make therapy accessible, affordable and comfortable for anyone who wants to begin their healing journey.

Practice description

Being an integrative psychotherapist and person centred led in practice means that I follow your lead within our sessions. This means I may use aspects of different therapy styles and use them at different times to help you in the sessions. As I believe our present is shaped by our past, this may mean at times we look at your childhood other times we won't. The sessions are led by you and what you want or need.

At time this means some sessions we will just talk through issues, others it may be that we do some visualisation or body work, it may be that we work through dreams or worries and use mindfulness work or use some psychodrama. It may be that we develop a tool to help you cope and practising it together so you can use it out of sessions. I work creatively to help you and your needs so you feel you get the most out of our sessions. This will always be done with you.

I have a MA in Psychotherapy & Counselling but am also trained to use CBT and DBT practises as well as a Mental Health First Aider and ASSIST Trained. I am fully insured and DBS checked

My first session

Our first session allows you to see how you feel about me as your therapist. It is important for you to feel that I can offer what you want and you feel comfortable with me.

This session lasts an hour and after we discuss the practicalities of us working together such as confidentiality, working virtually together and various other administrative details (normally lasts no longer than 15 minutes), this session will be for you to tell me what has brought you to therapy, what you hope to get from our sessions and what you hope to work on as well as giving me a brief history of you.

After that we can talk briefly about how we move forward, whether you feel long or short term sessions would work and whether you would like to book another session or some time to think. There is no commitment for you to have another session after the first one.
