About me and my therapy practice
Hi. My name is Sue Trent and I am a Therapeutic Coach.
Therapeutic Coaching is the integration of counselling with coaching. It provides the support needed to explore the underlying causes of problems as well as the structure to move forward and make changes.
As well as a BACP registered counsellor, I am a Fusion Certified Therapeutic Coach and Rewind practitioner with a grounding in psychology. My training in the Personal Consultancy model enables me to integrate the strengths of various counselling and coaching approaches in a systemic way to address a wide range of needs. Which approaches and techniques are used depends on the problem you would like to address and what you would like to achieve from the support. This can be discussed at a consultation appointment.
My practice is trauma-informed. This means I view behaviour as adaptive to the environment in which it is produced. Patterns of behaviour which were once helpful can become problematic and difficult to change. Therapeutic coaching offers you the insights you need to understand what is happening as well as empowering you to make the changes you would like to make.
My aim is to provide you with a confidential and non-judgemental professional relationship in a private space where you can view your life holistically, resolve problems and build emotional health and resilience. Building a safe, supportive and trusting therapeutic relationship with my clients is very important to me. I work with openness and respect for each client's individual experience and we work collaboratively to explore how the knowledge, skills and understandings I offer can be helpfully employed in your world.
Practice description

I have extensive experience of working with children and young people and am particularly passionate about what therapeutic coaching can offer to adolescents and young adults. I also have experience of providing personal therapy to trainee counsellors as part of their studies.
My qualifications and experience:
Postgraduate Diploma in Therapeutic Coaching
Postgraduate Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Children and young People
BSc Hons Psychology degree - First Class
Fusion Certified Diploma in Therapeutic Coaching
Over 20 years experience of supporting the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in schools and 3 years as a volunteer with the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).
I am a member of the BACP Children, Young People and Families Division and the Coaching Division.
My first session
Our first session will be a consultation appointment, at which we will discuss the background to the problem you would like help with and how I can support you. This is an opportunity for you to meet me and get a feel for the support. Following this, if you would like to proceed, we can discuss suitable days and times for your sessions. The consultation charge is 50% of my therapeutic coaching rate.
An initial telephone call is offered, free of charge, to briefly discuss whether a consultation appointment seems appropriate for you.
