About me and my therapy practice
Thank you for visiting my profile today.
I have a private practice called “Bee-coming, HOPE”. I am a registered member of the BACP (British association of counselling and Psychotherapy), and I am a member of NCS (National Counselling Society) meaning you are assured I am working with an ethical code of practice as a qualified counsellor. I am an integrative counsellor, meaning I use a variety of methods when counselling. I am a qualified Mental Health First Aider and Meditation Practitioner.
When I am counselling, I have a feeling of being at home, like its meant to be. I have a passion for well-being, and it is at the heart of everything I do. I work at a local NHS Oncology support unit, and I volunteer my counselling services to patients with cancer on a palliative care path, cancer survivors and their families and the nurses who look after them. I am also a sixth form college counsellor part time, where I support staff and students in an education setting.
Practice description
Why choose me to be your counsellor?Everything I do is focused on providing you with HOPE; and that is why I put HOPE, quite literally in my company’s name. I feel my commitment to you should be clear from the start of us working together. I will get to know you and understand your needs in a holistic way. You are an individual and as such I will treat you like one by making sure your counselling experience is tailored to meet your needs. I will walk alongside you and create a safe space for you to be able to explore those challenges in a non-judgmental way. Using a variety of techniques, I will work in a non-directive way to help you make positive and lasting changes. All our work will be confidential and any records I keep will be kept in accordance with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations). I recognise that you may be a little nervous at the thought of starting counselling. Taking the first steps can be the most difficult. So much uncertainty. To try and make that easier for you I am offering your first session free. I will use that first session to show you what counselling is about, set expectations of what I can offer. You will then be able to make a decision if I am the counsellor for you and you can think about what you want to gain from our time together. Finding the right support for you is very important and vital. I would love to be alongside you, but you need to feel the same. Only then will we begin creating a therapeutic relationship together which will work through your challenges.
My first session
I will carry out a telephone assessment capturing some basic background information from you. Lasting about 1/2 hour. We will start the formation of our therapeutic relationship and we will look at how we can work together if appropriate.
Then our first hour session is free. We will discuss a little about your concerns and you can decide if I am the right counsellor for you. Finding the right counsellor is so important and I want you to be sure.
