About me and my therapy practice
I provide safe and confidential space for the children to access their inner resources such as memories, thoughts and feelings suppressed in the subconscious and provide safe space for them to be able to restore these and bring them into the ‘conscious’ through play.
I am particularly interested in sensory and messy play. As a therapist, being able to contain the mess the child makes, I communicate that I am able to contain the chaos from within and therefore contain their confused emotional experiences.
When children become aware and understand their thoughts, they gradually build up resources to face their challenges and to cope with them.
Practice description
Each in-person Play Therapy session takes place once a week at the same time at my premises in the lovely area of Marylebone, London.
Communication and self-expression using therapeutic toys and resources supported by a trusting relationship in a safe environment is the main feature my practice.
My first session
When I receive a referral, I organise an initial parent meeting where we discuss your concerns in detail. This meeting can take place online or in person.
When it is decided that Play Therapy is the right approach your child would benefit from, a face-to-face meeting with the child and one or both parents takes place in the therapy room.
The child will then be dropped off for the session and picked up afterwards by the parent or carer.
