About me and my therapy practice
I am a counselling psychologist (in training) on a doctoral program. Currently registered with the BPS and BACP. I also have a qualified background in mental health nursing.
I have several years of experience working within a variety of mental health settings, with individuals of diverse cultures and backgrounds. I have therapeutically supported individuals in crisis who have found it challenging and overwhelming to deal with different life situations, by exploring with the client to find positive coping strategies. I have clinical experience working in the NHS, private and charitable organisations.
Practice description
I am aware that seeking therapy for the first time or even in general can be a daunting experience for some people but also the first steps to getting help with your issues. I aim to offer compassion in a nonjudgmental way to help you feel safe within the therapy space.
Therapy can be a useful space to explore past and present issues that the individual would like to gain understanding of, process to make sense of and find ways to manage and cope with. Similarly it is also a space to explore any worries or anxieties about the past, present and future.
I believe in the importance of providing a warm and safe environment that aims to allow an open, honest, compassionate and non-judgmental space for the client to bring what is important to them. I am aware that life challenges and difficulties affect people in different ways, therefore I believe that it is paramount that this is acknowledged when working with clients by viewing each client as unique in their own way. Therefore, I work by integrating a variety of approaches as I believe that when working with the client's needs that flexibility is important to explore and allow the client to build in self awareness, confidence and empowerment.
My first session
In an initial session it will give the opportunity to explore your situation and get an idea of how it could be to work together. If we feel there's a fit, then we find a regular weekly time to meet. Additionally, depending on your needs we can set an agreed time period for the work together. This could range from 6-12 sessions, 12-24 sessions or open ended meaning it can continue for as long as you need it. Each individual session will last for 50 minutes.
