About me and my therapy practice
My approach in life and as a Counsellor is to be absolutely person centred. Your journey will be as individual and unique as you are and I will support you to make sense of the challenges you are experiencing.
I’ve had the privilege of knowing and working alongside a richly diverse group of people and their families within counselling, social care and education for over 30 years, developing a broad understanding of the importance of mental well-being. I am also currently working part time as a Counsellor with the NHS Talking Therapies Service (formerly IAPT), specialising in Person Centred Emotion Focused Counselling for Depression & Anxiety.
I understand how important it is to have support as unique as you are which is why I offer flexible, bespoke counselling over video or phone. I also offer eco-therapy (being outside to walk & talk, or sit and talk amongst nature) or the option to work with you within your own home if you are facing restrictions due to illness, mobility or anxiety about leaving home.
Practice description
I know how frightening and confusing it can be to reach out for professional help - especially when you are someone who usually copes with everything or are not used to talking about your thoughts and feelings. I can support you through life’s challenges and changes such as relationships, financial worries, unhelpful habits, illness, loss, grief, parenting or caring for others. Your counselling journey will be led by you, as the expert in your life and I will be here to help you work through your thoughts and feelings to find balance and your sense of ‘self’ again.
My first session
Choosing a therapist is a really personal decision and there is definitely not one size to fit all. It is also a big financial commitment and investment in yourself so I offer an initial 15 minute telephone session for free to enable us to explore what has brought you to counselling and any questions you may have. It is also an opportunity to think about if we are a good match to work together or if there are other therapists/organisations who may be better suited to meet your needs.
