Availability
I work Monday to Friday, at agreed times to suit each individual client. Have particularly good flexibility as can move my mental-health writing work to free slots. Am easily able to accommodate the changing needs of shift workers and others who can't work to a fixed slot.
As clients tend to get 'fixed' quickly, even when fully booked new availability doesn't take long.
First step is to get in touch, book a free preliminary chat and see how you feel about booking your first session.
About me and my therapy practice
I offer Integrative talking therapy, in a comfortable home-based therapy room. Clients are enabled to share what ever is bothering them and how it makes them feel - while I listen, observe and take notes. Through this process, a picture is built up of what events and feelings link to what, who and why. It is normal for forgotten and buried memories to become unlocked - giving clients light-bulb moments of revelation and realisation. This information, which is always evolving, allows us to explore the true causes of the issues and responses to them - enabling present-day impacts to be resolved from the bottom up. The result is a more solid, positive foundation upon which to go forward with the rest of their lives, free from the things previously holding them back.
From the very beginning, it is kind, caring, supportive process. Never any criticism, only unconditional, positive regard and progress at a pace to suit. Clients are enabled to breathe, relax and be yourself.
There can be tasks to do between sessions but this is not school. Entirely a client's choice as to whether to do them - progress is faster when they do.
Experienced in successfully helping with abuse, addictions, ADHD, anger, anxiety, bereavement, betrayal, career, co-dependency, confidence, depression, domestic abuse, loneliness, low self-esteem, people pleasing, procrastination, relationships, self-harm, stress, trauma and unplanned pregnancies.
Last Session
When clients feel ready to part ways, the door is never closed. Clients are always welcome to come back for a 'top up' session. One example is someone who got back in touch when expecting their first child. One session was all it took.
Practice description
I work in private practice, as a sole trader. Dedicated to giving clients the very best service, no more than ten clients are seen in a week. I enjoy helping people and believe in quality rather than quantity. Clients are never just numbers on a spreadsheet.
All session notes are hand-written and securely stored in a locked filing cabinet, with personal details stored on paper in another secure location in my home. The two never meet so, not only can client details never be hacked, even if a burglar stole session notes and was able to read my handwriting they could not be linked to a client. Given how prolific hacking is these days, I feel it is the best way to safeguard client confidentiality - something that is crucial in this profession.
Based in MK9 and MK10, face to face sessions are mostly conducted from my home-based therapy room in Broughton, MK10 - with free parking.
Session Charges (10% discount for NHS)
£50 for 50 minutes, for individuals - face to face and online.
£70 for 60 minutes, for couples - face to face.
Free 20-minute preliminary telephone chats.
Am enhanced DBS checked/cleared and based in MK9 and MK10 - within easy reach of nearby Northampton and Bedford.
My first session
Our first spoken contact will be the free initial telephone chat and the booking that follows, when clients are ready to proceed.
The first session starts as we mean to go on, with clients invited to share what is troubling them and us working through it - without judgement, in total confidence.
Often told am easy to talk to. This is evidenced by it being normal for clients to voice their darkest secrets, sometimes in the very first session: "I've never told anyone this before..."
