About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced Integrative Existential psychotherapist offering a supportive, safe, and non-judgemental space to help you get a better understanding of where you find yourself in life.
My experience comes from working in the NHS, and a variety of community counselling services. I have worked with clients experiencing many different issues, including (but not limited to) identity issues, anxiety, depression, body image, addiction, grief, and relationship issues.
I have specialist experience working with physical health issues, having worked extensively with cancer patients and their families. I also have experience working with neurodiversity, in particular autism, and have a special interest in working with trauma and the possibility of creating post traumatic growth.
I have a Masters in Psychology and a PGDip in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, a UKCP accredited psychotherapist and I am a doctoral researcher in the final year of my training as a Counselling Psychologist. I have attended additional training in Internal Family Systems Therapy (Level 1), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Non Violent Communication.
I value diversity and individuality and my practice is non-discriminatory. I practice within the BACP ethical framework and hold an Enhanced DBS certificate.
Before training as a psychotherapist, I worked in Human Resources at senior level for many years and have experience of helping individuals to understand the complexities that arise in the workplace and how to navigate through these.
Practice description
Therapy can help you to better understand the situation you find yourself in. It is a time each week when you can take stock, collect your thoughts and check in with yourself without any of the usual day-to-day distractions. It is a time to reflect on your assumptions and values, and to get a better sense of what you want for yourself.
I offer individual therapy to adults; online and in person in Worthing. I also offer the option of walking therapy, combining talking therapy with the therapeutic value of spending time outdoors in nature.
I work in a holistic way that honours your unique experience and draws on a number of different therapeutic approaches to tailor support to your individual needs.
I believe in the resourcefulness of the human spirit and in the value of helping people to uncover their own solutions to life’s challenges. Through listening and questioning, I will work with you to help you to describe and clarify your unique way of being and how you relate to the world. I aim to support you in considering who you are, what matters to you, how you relate to others and how you might live your life more the way you want to.
My first session
Before our first session I offer an initial no cost 15-minute chat over the phone. This is an opportunity for you to ask me questions and for us to discuss how we can work together and what you hope to get from therapy.
I offer the option of a 30 minute, or 50 minute, introductory session online or in person. My introductory session fees are £35 for a 30 minute, and £70 for a 50 minute, session. Our first session together will help you get a sense of what it will be like to work with me and whether that feels right for you.
