About me and my therapy practice
You did it! Today you were able to push through and take a step toward getting some support. Are your fears diminishing? Hi, my name is Deborah, and I invite you to take a deep breath, as I imagine choosing the right counsellor might feel a little daunting.
There may be several reasons why you are here, perhaps you are experiencing unidentified anger, having frequent waves of sadness, grief, loss of identity, struggling with cultural pressures, low self-esteem, depression, recent or historical trauma, having negative thoughts, feeling unheard or misunderstood, finding it hard to start or maintain meaningful relationships. These are all issues that we can address together.
Practice description
My experience over the last few years has been rich and diverse. During my training, I made a commitment to help break the bias/stigma around counselling. Later my focus turned to cultural inclusivity. For two years I worked with clients from the minority community, helping both women and men with stress, depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, and coping with grief and loss. I also have some experience working in anger management. On this journey, I have had the opportunity to work with young people in a school setting, which was extremely rewarding. This inspired me to do an art course, which from time to time integrate into my one-to-one counseling or wellbeing sessions.
Most recently I have been supporting clients with drug and alcohol misuse. Helping them to build self-esteem and accept the rebirth of themselves. These sessions are a mixture of groups and one-to-one sessions depending on the client.
My first session
Feeling comfortable in building a therapeutic relationship is important, so I am happy to offer a 15-minute consultation with no obligation. This can be done via Zoom or telephone, You will have the opportunity to ask me a few questions and decide whether we are a right fit for each other.
In our first session, There will be time to explore your expectations and overall goals for your therapy. If you feel comfortable moving forward, we will discuss and schedule the frequency of the virtual or telephone session and any other support that may need.
