About me and my therapy practice

I am a registered counsellor with the BACP and nearing the completion of a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology.

As a neurodivergent therapist, I prioritise creating an accepting space. My approach is focused on building a strong therapeutic relationship. I am an integrative counsellor, that draws upon relational psychodynamic, systemic, CBT, and third-wave approaches. I can also provide the Rewind Technique for PTSD, this takes one to two sessions and is a technique that does not require you to disclose trauma.

Primary areas of experience are working with trauma, learning difficulties, social-emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) as well as neurodiversity, such as autism and ADHD. Other areas of experience include working with abuse, OCD, sexual and criminal exploitation, self-esteem, depression, anxiety, PTSD and health anxiety. I have also worked with people who are experiencing family, school or work-related issues, as well as providing counselling to young people in specialised schools.

I support a diverse range of clients, including:

Children and Adolescents: I use age-appropriate techniques for verbal and non-verbal expression, creating a supportive space to process emotions and develop coping skills.

Adults: I collaborate with clients to work toward their therapeutic goals and aim to provide skills and strategies that will best support them as well as explore unconscious processes, early relational patterns, and past experiences that can shape an individual's present-day thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

Couples: These sessions can be focused on tools and strategies for communication, intimacy, and resolving conflicts. Underlying dynamics that may be contributing to challenges may also be explored.

Families: I adopt a perspective that considers family dynamics and the impact of individual behaviours on the family unit as a whole. I aim to facilitate communication, promote understanding, and address patterns that may contribute to conflict/distress.

My first session

Our first session will be an assessment session, the purpose of this session is for us to get to know each other and for me to learn, in-depth, about what problem/s bring you to therapy, and what you hope to gain. In this session, we will also discuss the counselling contract and a privacy notice.

If you would like walk-and-talk sessions, we'll start with an online meeting to plan things out. We'll talk about where and when to meet, any safety measures, and what you want to get out of sessions.

Following on from this initial meeting, we will have sessions outdoors. These sessions provide a change of scenery from the typical therapy room, which can feel more relaxed and less intimidating for some clients. The natural environment can also promote feelings of calmness, relaxation, and openness, making it easier for clients to connect with their emotions and express themselves.

Working hours are flexible from 10.15am to 8.30pm.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer supervision services for professionals working with adolescents/young people.

The overall purpose of supervision is firstly to monitor and promote the welfare of the young people you work with. However, I will not forget you in this, meaning I will consider your needs in this process.

My supervision style is reflective, supportive, and tailored to each supervisee’s professional development. Drawing on my integrative background, I offer guidance on therapeutic techniques, case formulations, and ethical dilemmas, while fostering a space for growth and skill enhancement. I encourage a collaborative supervisory relationship, supporting professionals in refining their practice with young people through:

- Exploring relationships and dynamics

- Navigating complex trauma and sensitive topics

- Managing the nuances of working with neurodivergent and SEMH populations

I have a background in both private practice and institutional settings. My integrative practice draws from relational psychodynamic counselling, systemic therapy, CBT, and third-wave approaches, ensuring a well-rounded and adaptable supervision experience.

I have worked with young people across various settings, including private practice, schools, and charitable organisations. This includes managing and delivering counselling services for secondary school students with additional needs, such as neurodiversity, social-emotional challenges, and learning disabilities. I have worked as a teacher and safeguarding lead. Additionally, I have provided training for professionals who work with young people on key topics such as:

- Building effective relationships and communication

- Recognising and addressing harmful sexual behaviours

- Managing and navigating the escalation cycle effectively

Practice description

Our first session will last 30 minutes and it will be free; it is an opportunity for you to tell me about your work and supervision needs.

This will be a space for you to ask me questions and to find out whether we are the right 'fit' for working together.

My first session

In our first session, I will go through issues around confidentiality, safeguarding time and payment, and between us, we can then make a working agreement. This will outline what we have discussed.

In our ongoing sessions, what you bring to supervision is up to you. It may be an organisational issue, a piece of individual work or thinking more broadly about a number of issues.
