About me and my therapy practice
Why come to counselling
People come to counselling for many reasons. You may have a very specific issue you would like to work on such as anxiety, depression, illness, relationships, self-esteem, identity or bereavement. Or you may be unclear but feeling generally overloaded and would like some impartial therapeutic support. Whatever is bringing you to counselling I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space to talk things through.
What to expect
My therapy is client led. What does that mean for you? In our sessions we will discuss where you are now in life, and what you would like to achieve from counselling. We will consider how you think, feel, and behave, and how this influences your relationships with others and impacts your day to day world. Working together at your pace to find new ways forward.
In my counselling practice I draw on different approaches and will always offer you everything in my therapeutic toolbox. This includes exploring not just thoughts and feelings but also your body’s response to certain situations. From this we can look at your overall health, wellbeing, and resilience.
My background
I have lived and worked within culturally and ethnically diverse communities and been part of the field of mental health and wellbeing for 20 years plus.
My clients come from all walks of life. While every individual is unique some are part a wider community of experience that has included unpaid carers, families affected by substance misuse, those with chronic pain and long term health conditions, neurodivergent clients, and the LGBTQIA+ clients.
I am aware that many families and individuals experience huge disruption, distress and loss in their lives. This has been true prior to, during, and post pandemic. As a trained specialist bereavement counsellor I am here for you.
I became a therapist because at a very challenging time in my life counselling was somewhere I felt truly heard and understood. I offer you the same safe place in which to talk.
