About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I am Rachel, a person centred counsellor supporting children, young people and adults.
At times we all feel a little lost in life or not quite ourselves, sometimes we don’t know what we’re feeling but know something isn’t quite right. Counselling can provide a safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings with someone who can help you work through your difficulties.
I work mainly from a person centred approach but draw on lots of different methods, particularly creative ones. We may use art or nature in our sessions to help you to express yourself creatively.
I am a great lover of the outdoors, nature and animals and believe these can often be a part of our healing. As an alternative to online or telephone I also offer walk and talk sessions where we will use the outdoors as part of the therapy. There are many benefits to working outdoors and clients can often find it less intense than traditional forms of counselling.
I will work collaboratively with you and together we will create a warm and safe place for you to explore what’s been going on for you. My approach is non-judgemental and I work in a kind and understanding way, led by you the client.
I have worked as counsellor in schools since qualifying including individual long term and short term therapy as well as group work with children from 6 years old and up.
I have done a lot of work with Bradford Bereavement Services and have a wealth of experience in this area. I also work with loss, relationships, abuse, anxiety, stress and depression.
It may be that you have something specific that you wish to bring to counselling or you may just need a safe place to start to untangle your thoughts and feelings. Each session will be tailored to you and your individual needs.
Practice description
I can offer in person, online or telephone sessions and I also offer walk and talk as an alternative. You may wish to start out in person and then move to online once we get to know each other, or the other way around.
Usually clients start with around 6 sessions and then we will review together how the counselling is going and how you feel it is progressing. We can explore if more sessions are needed or if you feel ready to end. We will continue to review at regular intervals.
Sessions are usually weekly or fortnightly depending on what suits you best.
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute telephone conversation to discuss your needs and to see if I am the right counsellor for you. We can discuss what type of counselling would suit best and I can answer any questions you may have.
