About me and my therapy practice
Hi I'm Clare, thankyou for visiting my profile. I am a person centred integrative counsellor and hypnotherapist based in Liverpool. I am qualified Walk and Talk Therapist. In addition to this, I am a Clinical Supervisor in training currently able to offer free supervision to counsellors as I complete the required practice hours.
I have lived experience of mental health difficulties and I'm intensely passionate about helping others learn to understand their own experiences of life's ups and downs. Life is hard and for some of us, it is even harder still.
Relationship difficulties, adverse childhood experiences, abuse (past or present), addiction, displacement, poor mental or physical health, feeling burnt out, being bullied or exhausted by the many demands of family, being a parent, work and all the stresses that come with modern life. Issues around identity and sexuality as well as any neurodivergence can make life difficult especially if you don't have positive supporters around you. If you have felt any such issues I can help you.
I have experienced the power of counselling both as a client and counsellor. I pride myself on offering a safe compassionate space where we can explore your difficulties together. You are the expert of your experience. My role is to work collaboratively with you to make sense of experiences and then support you to make any changes if and when you decide to.
We focus so much on our physical wellbeing but forget that we are so much more. No person is just one thing in life. We are so much more. The demands and the impact of experiences can make life really difficult to handle. You may have lost your direction in life or feel that you have never known it. You may know what you are struggling with or you may actually have no idea.
All experiences are very welcome. I know that taking the first step can feel scary. If you feel like we may be a good fit to work together then please reach out and book a free consultation to see how I can help you.
Practice description
I work from a beautiful space in the L8 area of Liverpool. This space is on the ground floor and is owned by an Artist friend and when not used for therapy, is a space where she creates her beautiful art and poetry. Access is up two steps and then down two so if you have any accessibility needs please do let me know. There is on street parking which is free. It is also on bus routes from both South Liverpool and the City Centre.
Remotely I work from home in a private confidential space. I do have a dog at home who can occasionally bark in the background but this is not often.
My first session
I offer a free consultation telephone session of 20-30minutes to allow you to ask me any questions. This also allows me to tell you how I work and its a chance for us both to see if we feel we can work together.
In our first session, I will go through my contract and terms and conditions with you to enable you to be fully aware of the boundaries and limitations of counselling and how I work. Once this part is completed I start by asking you to think about what has brought you to counselling and if you have any set goals in mind that you are seeking to address. At this stage some clients do know what they want as goals but many others do not so please do not feel intimidated by this. I find often that the first session allows us to talk through what the difficulties are that you are dealing with and we can agree a way to work forward together.
I offer short term fixed sessions and long-term open ended sessions. When we meet we can discuss this. You are also always able to change this, if when working together you feel you want to. I am always led by you and I usually ask that we commit to four sessions in the first instance where we will then review how our work is going and whether you wish to continue to work with me or whether you wish to withdraw. You can withdraw at any time for any reason.

I am a Clinical Supervisor in training and offer Face-to-Face supervision and online supervision options. As I am training I am currently offering free supervision for three months to any new supervisees who would like to work with me.
About me and my therapy practice
I am completing Clinical Supervision Diploma with Counselling Tutor. I work from the Seven-Eyed model of supervision. I have completed the academic part of training and just completing the required placement pre-requisite number of 20 hours of supervision. During this period I am offering free supervision for up to 3 sessions (months) with new supervisees. This is until I achieve the full qualification.
I offer both in-person and online supervision.
I work from an integrative modality with a person centred core to all my work. I am a BACP Accredited therapist. I have five years post qualification experience and work currently in two local Charities in Liverpool. A male suicide prevention charity where I have been for five years and a women's charity where I have been for two years. These two part time roles provide me with a wealth of experience with diverse clients groups and offer a good balance to each other. I also have a small private practice offering both Counselling, Walk and Talk therapy and Hypnotherapy.
I am an therapist and supervisor with lived experience of mental health. I am passionate about genuine self-care and the need to normalise mental health experiences and conditions. With the right support and self - learning many people can manage and do work with mental health conditions, of which I am evidence.
In a previous work-life, I was a Probation Officer for 22 years. I have experience of working with men and women at all stages of the Criminal Justice System. I have worked both in generic and specific teams such as Drug Rehabilitation Requirement (DRR) teams, Accredited Programme Delivery (Think First), Youth Offending Service, and Liverpool Crown Court completing pre-sentence reports. I have been a practice supervisor supporting the placement and education of Trainee Probation Officers. I have a wealth of experience working with High Risk of Harm individuals and within multi-agency systems such as Adult and Child Safeguarding and MAPPA.
Practice description
I can work on-line with anyone in the UK in any location. Face-to-Face supervision is held in Liverpool, L8 at a beautiful room that I rent close to Sefton Park in the South of the City. This is a ground floor room which has two steps up to and down to the room itself so do please get in touch if you have accessibility needs.
My first session
I offer a free 30 minute consultation session to discuss what you need and what I offer. This discussion allows us both to see whether we are a good fit to work together.
As with any therapy relationship, we would complete a working contract in the first session and then we would work together to explore how you would best like to work in the future sessions. I am committed to my own continuous professional development and would champion this also for you in our work together.
