About me and my therapy practice
Hi and welcome – I’m Laurie and I’m passionate about supporting people just like you, to reclaim your life following recent or historical grief, loss, change, life transition & trauma.
I understand how overwhelming and isolating it can feel to navigate life after a change or significant loss. Whether you’ve experienced the death of a loved one, a painful relationship break-up, a dream that couldn’t materialise, a shift in career, a change in your identity, or another profound loss or period of change; these experiences can have an impact and leave you feeling uncertain, emotionally drained, and disconnected.
In my early 20s, I lost a parent suddenly and unexpectedly and the trauma surrounding this death, pushed me into survival mode. I was struggling with overwhelm, emotional dysregulation, perfectionism and people-pleasing. I was stuck living in fear and relying on unhealthy coping mechanisms.
Now, over a decade later, I use my own personal experiences, alongside my professional training, to walk alongside you, as you move out of survival mode and begin thriving.
If you’re experiencing grief, loss or life transitions/change in your 20s and 30s (including navigating a significant loss from your childhood), this can come with a unique set of challenges and is a special area of interest in my work.
Practice description
I believe the therapy process is as unique as the human experience and it is for this reason, I use a relational, mind-body approach. Simply put, this means I tailor my approach to best suit your needs, working with the body and mind to provide a full healing experience.
Together, we can help you to:
- Regain your sense of self, confidence, purpose & power.
- Break free from unhelpful coping mechanisms such as perfectionism, people-pleasing and busyness.
- Rewrite unhealthy patterns of connecting with others which form through past trauma, conditioning and adverse experiences.
- Rebuild self-compassion, trust and inner-safety.
We live in a society that pushes people to get back to “normal” quickly following significant life events, which can leave us feeling lost about what comes next. Yet, the nervous system heals when we slow down, not when we are under pressure or urgency.
I have worked with a wide range of clients’ who have left the therapy process feeling more connected to themselves and with a greater awareness of their own needs and what’s been keeping them stuck. As a result, they are often feeling less anxious, overwhelmed and depressed and are able to approach life with more self-compassion. For those I have worked with who have experienced a significant loss, they feel able to move forward now the weight of grief has been eased.
My professional training includes:
- MA Counselling & Psychotherapy Practice
- Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
- Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling
- Certificate in Counselling Studies
- Certificate in Counselling Skills
- Ongoing CPD

About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome, my name is Laurie. I’m an integrative therapist and supervisor.
Supervision with me is a chance to collaboratively explore, reflect and get curious about what’s happening in your work with your clients, so you can continue providing that valuable therapeutic space, whilst maintaining your own wellbeing.
I’m trained in the seven-eyed model of supervision, which allows us to consider all of the relationships that occur between client-counsellor-supervisor and how this can impact on the therapeutic process. As an integrative/eclectic therapist, I embrace the diversity of counselling modalities and ways of working with clients; including, honing our abilities to connect with and trust our intuition in our work. I also love a bit of creativity and adore metaphor work so can help you to integrate this into both your client work and/or supervision space if you like to work “outside of the box”.
Practice description
My therapy practice aims to provide a relational, socially-informed and non-shaming space and I aim to mirror this in my supervision work. The weight of our client work can be heavy and having a supervisory space where we can speak openly and honestly, can help us to find some breathing space and ensure we are taking care of ourselves too.
I believe supervision to be a dynamic and changing-space as you grow and develop as a practitioner and I aim to tailor our space together to suit your needs.
I work exclusively-online, having built a successful private practice working remotely and I can share this knowledge with you, to support you with incorporating online and telephone work into your practice.
