About me and my therapy practice
I pride myself in offering high quality evidence based psychotherapy in a warm, kind, non judgmental and collaborative environment and I strive to make my service inclusive and welcoming to people from all walks of life.
I qualified as a Psychotherapist in 2000 and have worked for the NHS and various charities.
I originally trained in Person - Centred Psychotherapy, but have now added Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to my practice. I therefore am an integrative therapist. This means I am able to draw upon both approaches when working with clients.
As well as working as a Psychotherapist I am also an Environmental Scientist, and have been involved in the Transition Network and in Climate Activism for many years. I therefore have a special interest in Eco Anxiety.
Qualifications:
MSc Environmental Science with Legislation & Management
PGDip Counselling & Psychotherapy
Diploma in Counselling & Group Work - CBT approach
Practice description
I offer face to face sessions in a central St Andrews location and in a village near Falkland and online sessions via zoom. I offer a sliding payment scale.
I draw upon both my Person Centred and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy training to provide an integrative approach to therapy.
I believe very strongly in the individuals ability to heal and grow and see the therapists role as being to create a safe space for the client to begin to explore their inner world. Deep reflective listening, empathy and acceptance are a key part of this process. Whilst also offering opportunities to begin to experiment with thinking and behaving differently in the world.
I am a Registered Member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy & of The Climate Psychology Alliance
I am a member of BACP and abide by their Code of Conduct
My first session
It is very important that both client and therapist feel comfortable with each other and are able to make a good level of connection. It is also important that the needs of the client accurately match what is being offered by the therapist. In order to check that there will be a good fit I offer my first assessment session free of charge with out obligation. This free session is usually offered over zoom and lasts 1 hour.
