About me and my therapy practice
I am a person-centred counsellor, offering a safe space for you to explore your experience, sharing at a pace that feels right for you. I work holistically and am able to integrate with integrity which means using a mixture of therapy led by the needs and wants of you the client; A brief description of each is offered further below.
I'm warm, compassionate, curious, creative, enquiring and non judgemental. I hope for my client's to feel accepted, honoured and safe within our co-created relationship, allowing exploration and expression to gain a deeper understanding of self; To help you with struggles you may be experiencing, supporting ebbs and flows and encouraging changes you may desire. Each therapeutic relationship is unique and I bring myself with an openess for you to have your therapy needs met.
You may be feeling anxious, depressed, confused. You may be experiencing loss, challenged by change. You may be finding it hard to feel passion and experiencing low sef esteem. You may experience difficulty with relationships. You may feel isolated or not accepted. You may wish to change behaviour. You may feel overwhelmed with feelings of fear, shame, anger. You may feel an uneasiness in joy. Life can be stressful and you may have difficulty finding a balance that feels right for you.
Practice description
Professional development areas that have enriched my tapestry of therapy are -
Person - Centred Approach - Client agency in expressing and exploring self met with unconditional positive regard, empathy and congruence.
Parts Work - Working with the different aspects of self within the whole.
Focusing - Connecting and giving attention to our feelings.
Intergrated Practise - Breath work.
Trauma informed.
Opportunity to explore using arts media and sand tray is available.
Nature itself can be therapeutic, aswell as in beautiful therapy rooms, I offer walk and talk sessions by the sea or in the countryside close to Brighton.
Our experiences will not be the same though I have personal experience of living with a hidden disability with a complex hearing impairment. To date, all of my client's have been unaware of this as I hear very well in the right environment and it doesn't negatively impact my ability as a one to one counsellor.
Some of my experience includes working with clients' needing help with -
Complex trauma, Post traumatic stress, Relationship difficulties, Depression, Anxiety, Grief, Violence, Oppression, Eating behaviours, Intrusive thoughts, Phobias, Homelessness, Addiction, Low self esteem, Attention difficulty, Stress, Dissociative experiences, Emotional distress, Loneliness, Parenting, Change, Unwanted behaviour, Self worth.
I'm active in research.
I'm aligned with the BACP ethical guidelines.
