About me and my therapy practice
Welcome...my name is Leila (she/her). I am a proudly female-only person-centred therapist at Through The Woods Counselling.
My specialist areas are:
- Working with young people (11-18 years).
- Bereavement/grief and loss (adults and young people)
A safe space
I aim to work with you to create a space of emotional safety. A place where you can start to open up about the things that are troubling you. To cultivate an environment where you can begin to feel comfortable with the uncomfortable. Exploration will always be at your pace and from your perspective.
A non-judgemental approach
I understand that coming to therapy can be daunting, especially if it is your first time. Please rest assured that you will be welcomed with a warm and open approach. All feelings are valid and your experiences will be met with empathy and compassion.
Your voice will be heard
My goal is to help you reconnect with your true self, to help you rediscover your voice and to uncover the meaning behind your struggles.
Training, qualifications & experience
Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
Post Graduate certificate in Primary Education.
BSc Psychology Degree 2:1.
I am also a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and abide by their ethical framework and moral principles.
Alongside my private practice work I have experience of running STEPS, the bereavement support group based in Newport.
I have a background in teaching and have over two years' experience of counselling and supporting young people with their mental health at Off The Record, a charity based in Bristol.
I have been a volunteer with Cruse bereavement Support, Wales and have over two years' experience of working with those impacted by the loss of a loved one.
I have experience of working with clients from a diverse range of backgrounds, including neurodivergent clients and clients from the LGBTQ+ community.
