About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified counsellor specialising in providing counselling to child and adolescents in the school setting and adults through private practice. I offer both face-to-face and online sessions to my clients, or hybrid.

I am trained as an integrative counsellor, with the emphasis of using play and art to create self-awareness and self-knowledge to heal and thrive in the demanding  environment we are living in now. My practice is guided by the principle of the importance of relational and attachment so that my clients can feel safe enough to explore things that are otherwise difficult to talk about and experiment different ways of being.

No two sessions are the same; some clients prefer to talk, some like to use art- or play mediums to communicate. Occasionally I may invite them to deepen their experiences or feelings creatively, either through art, play, body movement, dance, music, or drama. Through that process, clients may deepen their understanding and discover new things about themselves or they may just find their own strategies to manage things or we may co-create it together.

I may also provide psychoeducation - primarily for an understanding of how our body-and-mind work. Clients have found it helpful to have gain this knowledge as they begin to have more self-compassion towards themselves in the way how their body feels or react or even how they perceive things. This is based on our nervous system and brain science.

Practice description

I strive to provide a safe, non-judgemental and respectful but playful and creative space to my clients so that they can feel uninhibitedly exploring their personal feelings, thoughts and behaviour which would be otherwise difficult to share with others.  Some may stop here and some may continue to the next step - that is to experiment a different way of beings and to develop other resources to support themselves when life gets challenging again.

What I provide at this stage is psychoeducation, a space and time where someone is there to witness the process and reflecting it back to the clients of their processes and at times, providing a mirror to reflect back to my clients their progress and change which otherwise they may not be able to see for themselves.

My first session

Initial consultation: I offer a 30-mins free introductory and consultation session so that we both can assess if we can work together. This may be done via online or by phone. I will also briefly talk about the contract, as well ask some questions to get to know you. This contact include information such as frequency of the sessions which we can discuss and agree on the best way of working, duration, confidentiality, safeguarding, payment, etc.

Of course, you can also ask me any questions you have about my practice, the sessions, and I will address any concerns you may have to my best ability.

You can think about if you feel that I'm the best fit for you. If you would like to proceed, then I'll email you the contract and will ask that you read and sign it and send it back to me.

Some clients may want a short-term support, which may be between 6 and 10 sessions; some may prefer open-ended time. I strive to have an open and honest discussion with my clients when they feel and ready for the ending.
