About me and my therapy practice
Greetings! You may have landed on my profile due to various reasons; it could be a match of a certain key words that are related to the challenges you or someone you know is struggling with, language capabilities, background, fees, locations, or even the therapeutic approach/ modality. Whatever it is, welcome.
Briefly about me and my approach
I am a qualified psychotherapist specialising in providing creative and talking therapy to children, adolescents and adults. I offer both face-to-face in South of Croydon or online sessions or hybrid.
I endeavour to offer a warmth, respectful, non-judgemental and safe, playful and creative space so that my clients can uninhibitedly explore their inner world of feelings, thoughts, bodily sensations and finding a new meaning.
No two sessions are the same; some clients prefer to talk, some like to use art- or play mediums to communicate. Occasionally I may invite them to deepen their experiences or feelings creatively, either through art, play, body movement, dance, music, or drama.
My therapeutic approach is informed by many theoretical framework such as psychodynamics, Jungian psychology, neuroscience, but both attachment and trauma theories are at the forefront of my practice by helping me to track my clients' emotional states and sense of safety when they explore something challenging during sessions.
Practice description
How I may help?
I have more than 600 hours of counselling and psychotherapeutic experience working supporting children, adolescents and adults (hereafter referred to as "client"). These clients have had faced with the following challenges:
Emotional and mental health challenges: Anxiety due to recent or past life events in life (e.g. loss of loved ones, bullying, relational or developmental trauma, accidents, harassment, or etc.), low mood, low motivation or feeling stuck in life, low self-esteem and self-confidence, or just feeling unhappy and dissatisfied with life.
Migrants and inter-generational (inheritance) of trauma
Neurodiversity: Clients who may be at a various stage of their neurodiversity journey; whether at the very initial stage of finding out or assessment, understanding to acceptance and integrating this part of themselves.
Parents' Consultation: I also offer consultation to parents in terms of supporting their children with challenges in their mental or emotional health or behaviour, or even just with stress with academic challenges.
What I provide at this stage is psychoeducation, a space and time where someone is there to witness the process and reflecting it back to the clients of their processes and at times, providing a mirror to reflect back to my clients their progress and change which otherwise they may not be able to see for themselves.
My first session
Initial consultation: I offer a 30-mins free introductory and consultation session so that we both can assess if we can work together. This may be done via online or by phone or in person.
Contract: I will briefly talk about the contract, which include time, duration and frequency of session, ways of working (in person, or online or hybrid), duration, confidentiality, safeguarding, payment, holidays, cancellation and ending and your rights as a client.
Q&A: This is also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions you may have about my practice, the sessions, and any concerns you have to help you to decide if I'm the best fit for you.
If you would like to proceed, then I'll email the contract and will ask that you read and sign it and send it back to me.
Short or long-term support: Some clients want a short-term support, which may be between 6 and 10 sessions; some prefer open-ended time. I strive to have an open and honest discussion with my clients when they feel and ready for the ending.
