About me and my therapy practice
Thank you for looking at my profile.
I am a warm and friendly humanistic counsellor / talking therapist. My counselling style is open and empathetic.
I work with individuals and couples.
I am a registered member of the BACP and work in accordance with BACP's ethical framework. I receive monthly clinical supervision, and I regularly access ongoing professional training.
I offer a safe and confidential space for you to explore what is worrying or impacting you. I currently work online either by telephone or Teams/Zoom. I have experience in helping clients with depression, stress and anxiety, relationship issues, motivation, communication, boundary setting, self esteem, confidence and more.
Alongside my private practice, I work for two organisations in the charity sector. One organisation is a Manchester based relationship counselling service (previously Relate) where I provide individual and couples therapy. The other organisation supports carers, where I am employed as the Counselling Manager and manage the counselling service. I have extensive knowledge of the impact of caring for a loved one with a diagnosis. I have also worked with and supported families who have children with complex needs. I have a keen interest in maternal depression and supporting mothers pre and post pregnancy.
I also have an extensive knowledge of grief and loss and offer bereavement counselling. Grief and loss is a key part of my counselling practice as it connects to many aspects of life - loss of a job, loss of health, loss of a relationship etc.
Couples therapy allows you and your partner equal time in sessions to talk about whatever is troubling you. I work with you to help you understand your partner’s viewpoints and vice versa. The aim is to improve communication. I can help you to work through your relationship issues no matter what stage of your relationship.
I charge £50 per session for individuals and £80 per session for couples.
Practice description
There are many different reasons people choose to have professional counselling. When we work together, I will work with you to understand your problems and work out a way to best support you. It may be we work together for a handful of sessions or it may be that we work on a longer term basis. I will always be open with you and review with you how we both think the sessions are going and if you need anything else. We decide together how many sessions are appropriate and we review this regularly throughout our time together.I work with you in a way so you can explore feelings and emotions without judgement. I am non-directive meaning I do not tell you what to do. I work with you to improve your autonomy as I believe you have the ability to make your own decisions and changes. My counselling style is about empowerment.
My first session
I offer a free 30 minute initial conversation or assessment where I can tell you more about my service and I will also find out what it is has brought you to counselling.
Our first session, which is 50 minutes long, will be exploratory with me finding out about you, again what has brought you to counselling and what you would like to work on in your sessions.
