About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome, my name is Kelley.  The most important ingredient to effective therapy is the relationship you build with your therapist.  It is one where you feel safe, valued, respected and most importantly heard and understood.  I am a passionate therapist offering a warm and genuine space for you to express and explore what is going on for you.

You may have some unexpected life experiences that you are struggling to cope with or understand.  Perhaps its challenging emotions that are coming up for you and you are not sure why.  You might be aware of some unhelpful coping behaviours and strategies that are impacting you in a negative way and would like support changing these.  In todays society, many use food, alcohol, drugs, sex or shopping to avoid feelings because they feel so overwhelming. Often self esteem can be low, or wounds from the past or childhood experiences start to cause pain and bleed again.  A therapist can safely help you to explore these feelings and learn how to cope with them in a healthy and manageable way, leading to a happier and more balanced lifestyle.

Practice description

I work from a cosy home office offering both face to face and online sessions via platforms such as Skype.  I offer 50 minute sessions on a weekly or bi weekly basis, often clients move to monthly check ins as therapy can be used for mental health maintenance and not just in emergencies!

I aim to tailor therapy to each individual client, as a one size approach does not fit all!

There is a lot of jargon in the therapy world, many different theories and approaches, styles and strategies. I have trained as a Person Centred Counsellor which means that my client is always at the centre of everything that I do.  Therapy is not done to you, it is a process in which two humans meet and collaborate together, through talking therapy we can explore and reflect on what you are experiencing.

I am also trained in CBT which is often the style of therapy offered by the NHS , however I believe that the talking and processing needs to be done first and then we can look at implementing strategies and challenging the negative voice that we all have in our head.

Making sense of your emotions, wants and needs and how we can all be governed by external expectations and rules helps you to gain  a clear understanding of yourself, giving you the power to make changes that can lead to a happier and more fulfilling life.

Everyone is welcome at Weller Wellbeing, I look forward to meeting you!

My first session

I offer a free initial phone call to explore your mental health needs, its an opportunity for me to explain how I work and find out if we are a good fit for each other and there is absolutely no pressure!

If you are happy with that call and feel like I am someone that understands you and who you can work collaboratively with, we can book your first session, during which I will walk you through the necessary paperwork which includes a therapeutic contract agreement, explaining all the technical and important information relating to safeguarding and confidentiality.  You are encouraged to ask any questions as they are always welcome.  We will discuss your needs and what your goals are for therapy, highlighting any barriers or concerns that you may have. It sounds serious but you are in safe hands, as a BACP accredited therapist I adhere to the ethical framework and follow good practice standards but my aim in this session will be to put you at ease and help you to feel welcome and accepted to come as you are.
