About me and my therapy practice
As a fully qualified BACP Registered counsellor and psychotherapist, I run a private practice in Kings Hill offering integrative psychotherapy. I draw on extensive and continued training in many different evidence based theories to support my clients needs. I am adept at helping people untangle complex problems. My specialism is in trauma work, including PTSD and complex PTSD and I understand the far-reaching impacts of trauma. I have a special interest in attachment theory and the impacts on relationships.
My prior experience has provided opportunities to work in a variety of settings including GP referrals from a medical centre. My current work includes working within a hospice offering therapy to bereaved family members, carers and patients.
I have had the privilege of working with clients across a broad range of issues. This has included depression, general anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), postnatal OCD, intrusive thoughts, childhood trauma, survivors of sexual and physical abuse, health anxiety, borderline personality disorder, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, attachment difficulties, bereavement, loss in many forms, carers, ADHD and other neuro-divergences, relationships and betrayal.
Practice description
I offer compassionate, evidence-based therapy designed to help you navigate challenges. I am dedicated to creating a safe, judgement free environment that can foster collaboration, exploring together patterns of thinking, creating a space where you can openly share current feelings, behaviours or past experiences at your own pace.
My approach emphasises building trust and validating your experiences to reduce feelings of shame and isolation. I encourage self-compassion and provide psycho-education to empower you with knowledge about your emotions and behaviours.
To support your individual needs, I use a range of research based theories to inform my practice, including Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Psycho-dynamic Theory, Person Centred and more.
My first session
I prefer to offer a free 20 minute phone or online session to establish your needs and make sure we are a good fit - we would then set up a session for assessment. Assessments are an opportunity for me to learn more about you, your important relationships, life experiences and what has bought you here now. I tailor my assessments to the areas you wish to bring to therapy and your desired outcomes. Dependant on the assessment type this will take around 50-60 minutes.
Our regular 50 minute sessions can be weekly or fortnightly, open ended or for a set number of sessions.
