Therapist - Liverpool

07788 723570
Sessions from £50.00

My working hours are flexible though I deliberately limit the number of clients so that I can be at my best and offer my full attention to those I do see.

My diary is constantly changing but I see clients during the week (daytime and evenings) and sometimes at weekends.

It may be possible for us to meet at the therapy rooms in Aigburth but they can get busy at certain times, in which case we could meet online (using video call) or at my home in Wallasey.

About me and my therapy practice

I am an honest, compassionate counsellor offering the kind of down-to-earth no-nonsense approach I would have appreciated when I attended therapy.  I was a sceptical client, now turned therapist, so I have some idea of what you might be feeling.

I firmly believe that you will have been trying your best to live a good life (whatever that means for you), but we all need help and support at times. When you’re feeling anxious or depressed it can be tempting either to desperately power on through or to hide away, perhaps making matters even worse. As I learned myself, asking for help is not a weakness; it's a strength.

I listen without judgement in order to understand your unique circumstances and we work together to fulfil your needs and give you the ability to make positive choices in life.

I can help with a whole range of issues but I have a personal interest or unique experience in the following specific areas:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Separation and divorce
  • Relationship issues
  • British boarding school system
  • Childhood sexual abuse
  • Bereavement, grief and loss
  • Anger issues
  • Trauma
  • Health anxiety
  • Loneliness
  • Alcohol and drug use and abuse
  • Eating disorders or weight issues
  • Suicide

Having also worked for many years in the theatre industry I have insider knowledge of the sorts of difficulties which might affect actors, musicians, directors and producers.

I trained for several years up to and including a postgraduate diploma (Level 7) in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice.

As well as working in private practice I have also worked with NHS and self-referred clients through Age UK and Cruse Bereavement Support.

Practice description

I offer complete flexibility in terms of length and frequency of appointments. Like most therapists, I am happy to offer regular weekly sessions, but I also understand that a more flexible approach may be needed by some clients. Appointments can therefore be fitted in with both of our schedules and sessions can be booked for any length between 50 minutes and 2 hours (charged at £1 a minute). For example...

  • 50 mins - £50
  • 60 mins - £60
  • 90 mins - £90
  • 120 mins - £120

As well as working from dedicated therapy rooms in Aigburth I also work online by video call or by phone if that suits you better.

I am also able to offer walk-and-talk therapy sessions, which start at Aigburth Counselling and Psychotherapy with a circular walk around Sefton Park.

Short-notice appointments may be possible and I am happy to provide short or long-term therapy for adults.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I have regular supervision and undertake continued professional development. I am also fully insured and hold a current DBS certificate.

My first session

In the first session, I am most likely to want to learn as much as I can about you. You will be free to discuss your issues and it might be an opportunity for us to discuss what you hope to get out of therapy, how any goals might be achieved and how we might best work together.

It could also be useful to know if you have experience with therapy in the past and if so, what you found to be particularly helpful or unhelpful.

An overwhelming body of research maintains that the biggest factor in determining a positive therapeutic outcome rests on the relationship between the client and the therapist. Ultimately, if you feel uncomfortable or judged by your therapist then it may be time to find a different therapist.

Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.

I only offer online or phone therapy in Chester but you're welcome to come to see me in dedicated therapy rooms in Birkenhead or Liverpool if you prefer in-person sessions. Some clients do a mixture of in-person and online sessions, which is also an option.
