About me and my therapy practice
Hi, My name is Marc Whittaker, I am a registered counsellor and psychotherapist practicing both online and Face-to-face.
As a Mindfulness Based Therapist, my integrative approach uses interventions and techniques from MBET, AEDP, ACT, SENSORIMOTOR and IFS to help you better navigate and work with the complexities of life, in a supported and safe space.
One thing I have learnt above all, is that we are all unique, with many factors playing a hand in this uniqueness. With this richness of diversity, also comes the uniqueness of our experiences. My role as a therapist is to work alongside you, creating a supported space, where we can explore together at a pace that feels safe. I will help you cultivate a new way to look at what you are experiencing, whether it is anxiety or hypervigilance, depression, dissociation, intrusive thoughts, or a combination of all.
Practice description
Working with a mindfulness based approach as therapist, my aim is to help you steadily cultivate a greater ability to exist in the moment and to place attention where you want it to be focused and not where your thoughts dictate it goes. Create a better distance to thoughts and feelings, so as not to feel overwhelmed, enabling a greater capacity to work with difficult situations. Help you develop an ability to reflect on your own journey with greater clarity, moving away from just the narrative of events. To have the confidence and ability to work with feelings, experienced in the here and now. Help you deepen your understanding of these feelings, and so developing a greater sense of context, enabling you to move forward and not feel "stuck".
My first session
