About me and my therapy practice
Do you feel isolated, as if sharing your struggles would make you a burden to others? Maybe it seems like everyone else has life under control, leaving you feeling embarrassed or even ashamed that you're not coping. If putting everyone first has left you feeling worn out, frustrated, and overwhelmed, maybe now’s the time to prioritise your own needs without feeling guilty. Whether it’s making time for healthy activities, getting recognition in your career or being able to spend quality time doing something you love, counselling can support you to feel more energised for what matters most.
Working together, we can find ways to establish healthy boundaries, that feel right for you, so that you can reduce the overwhelm and gain a sense of balance to cope with what life throws at you. Pressure at work, meeting the needs of your family or just being that friend that everyone relies upon can feel like a constant juggling act. Talking therapy can help you gain clarity so that you’ll find it easier to manage these demands in a way that supports your wellbeing, without compromising your personal or professional relationships.
Working with adults and young people in private practice and schools as well as volunteering in a local charity and having a family of my own, has helped me to appreciate that the need to put our loved ones first, and protect them from difficult feelings, can feel like a priority. My experience has taught me that it’s not just parents who feel this way. Children from a young age into adulthood, can often feel that they want to shield their family from whatever’s troubling them and find that talking to someone in a safe, neutral setting provides an outlet for these feelings, providing relief from the pressure of putting on a brave face so they can reconnect and begin to enjoy quality time together.
My first session
Whether you’re looking for support for yourself, or for someone you care about, I know that finding a counsellor can be a daunting task. When you’re ready, I’m here to help. Without any pressure, we can start with a 20 minute informal chat to give you the chance to see how therapy can work for you. This introductory session can be by phone, video call or in person, and is completely free of charge.
Choosing a counsellor that feels right for you is an important step so this first session is an opportunity to ask questions, share any concerns you may have, and to get a sense of whether I am the right person for you.
