About me and my therapy practice
Taking the first step towards therapy can be daunting, I strive to offer a safe, confidential space where you can explore difficulties openly and reflect on what’s working or not. I view the therapeutic relationship as central to meaningful change and welcome a brief introductory call to ensure you feel comfortable before beginning sessions.
Throughout my career, I have worked extensively with individuals facing addiction, bereavement, and trauma, using a range of therapeutic techniques to provide comprehensive support. My approach integrates evidence-based practices like CBT and Person-Centered Therapy, alongside a psychodynamic focus on deepening self-awareness. This enables us to explore how past experiences may shape present behaviours, helping you discover new ways to live with clarity and purpose.
My practice is rooted in valuing each client’s unique journey. I provide a compassionate, unbiased, and emotionally secure environment, supporting you as we navigate your personal narrative together. Therapy offers a chance to reflect away from everyday distractions, providing a dedicated time and space for deeper insight. Our work will focus on understanding the underlying patterns in your life, building awareness, and developing strategies to address your current difficulties.
Whether you’re dealing with addiction, loss, or trauma, my goal is to support you in making sense of these experiences and finding new ways to respond to life’s challenges. I continually invest in professional development to ensure I bring the latest knowledge and best practices to our sessions, all while adhering to the ethical standards set by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Let’s work together to unlock new perspectives and ways of living that can help you move forward with greater resilience, clarity, and ease.
Practice description
My practice is primarily based in a charming, private, and spacious counselling space just a short walk from Braintree town centre. The location offers free parking and a welcoming waiting area with a reception, creating a calm and comfortable environment for in-person sessions. I also provide face-to-face sessions in the surrounding areas of Essex and London for corporate clients and specific individuals upon request. For those seeking flexibility, I offer secure online therapy for English-speaking clients both in the UK and abroad.
Each session is designed to reflect your individual needs and aspirations. You may be seeking therapy to address specific issues such as addiction, relationship difficulties, or unresolved trauma, or you may be looking to achieve a deeper sense of personal growth and fulfilment. Wherever you are in life, I strive to provide a compassionate, tailored approach to help you uncover new perspectives, build resilience, and reach your fullest potential.
Whether in-person or through remote sessions, my goal is to make therapy as accessible and supportive as possible. My practice is a place for reflection, empowerment, and meaningful change, where clients can move beyond current difficulties and work toward a life of greater clarity, purpose, and fulfilment.
My first session
In the initial session, I focus on creating a welcoming environment where we can begin to build a strong therapeutic relationship. I want you to feel comfortable sharing your story, so prior to this, I offer a brief, informal introductory chat to help us determine if I’m the right fit for your therapeutic needs. This conversation allows us to establish a connection and outline what you’re hoping to achieve through counselling.
The first session typically lasts up to an hour and offers an opportunity to explore what has brought you to therapy, the issues you’re facing, and your broader goals. During this time, I may ask some questions about your personal background, experiences, and current situation to gain a comprehensive understanding of how best to support you. You’ll have plenty of space to talk openly, ask any questions, and share what you’d like to gain from the therapeutic process. If desired, I can provide a written summary of this assessment for your own records, allowing you to reflect on our discussions and better track your progress.
Our initial session sets the foundation for our work together and helps define what our therapeutic direction may look like. From here, if you feel comfortable moving forward, we’ll agree on an initial number of sessions, to ensure a structured and focused approach. We’ll regularly review how things are progressing to see if you want to conclude therapy, extend for another set of sessions, or continue on an ongoing basis depending on your needs and goals.
Ultimately, my goal is to offer an environment where you feel empowered to explore your challenges, build resilience, and develop new ways of living with greater clarity and purpose. If you’d like to explore the possibility of counselling with me, please reach out, and I’ll be happy to discuss the next steps to get started on your therapeutic journey.
