About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Charlotte Precious and I am a person-centred counsellor. It could be that you are reading my profile because you have a sense that something is wrong in your life but you just can't find the cause, or it may be that you know the source of your pain but that you have never felt able to talk about it or share it with another.  I can give you a warm welcoming, safe place where you can be heard and accepted and be able to explore the struggles which effect you.

I have experience in helping those who are struggling to cope with day to day life who may be grieving, feeling anxious or alone and unworthy or seek support to manage the long-term effects of traumatic experiences both in adulthood or childhood.

Asking for help can be the most difficult and at the same time the bravest thing you can do. By working together, we can build a relationship in which you know you are heard, understood, I know this works because I have seen and experienced the value of such a relationship. Imagine being able to respond to your world in the way you choose and not be weighed down by pain and hurt.

For a number of years, I have been a volunteer listener for the Samaritans and a bereavement support volunteer for Cruse. I also volunteer for a charity in Hull which provides therapeutic counselling to survivors of trauma and child abuse.

I offer unlimited, hourly sessions both in person from my purpose built therapy room off Willerby Road (Hull) or remotely by Skype or Zoom. Call me for a free first chat

Practice description

My particular experience is in working with grief and loss (including early pregnancy loss), and also the effects of traumatic experiences, this includes working with anxiety, self-harm, depression, drugs and alcohol problems, feeling stuck, unworthy, low self-esteem, domestic violence, sexual violence and suicidal thoughts and feelings.

I work from my purpose built therapy room off Willerby Road. It is a lovely, welcoming space, set in a beautiful private garden which is easy to find.

I believe I offer a gentle and flexible approach to the sessions. I will do all I can to ensure that you feel comfortable and confident, so that we can work through whatever you choose to bring to the sessions.

My first session

I offer an initial free 20 minute phone conversation if you would like to discuss our work together. If we agree that counselling would be helpful and that you would like to work with me, I will send you a copy of my Therapy agreement which I would like you to read and sign prior to us starting. also send out a contact sheet for your basic information.

We will make an appointment for our first session which can either be in person or via Zoom, whichever is most suitable for you.

This first session is a good opportunity to discuss what you want from counselling and to see if you feel comfortable working with me.
