About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Jenny Freeman and I am trained in offering Person-Centred, Humanistic and Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling.
I am currently offering lower cost daytime Zoom slots to students at £50/session. I work remotely, nationwide using telephone and Zoom.
I welcome clients from all walks of life and with a wide range of issues.
I will work alongside you to try to understand what is at the root of your distress, for issues including anxiety, depression, addiction, bereavement/loss, relationship difficulties, for example.
Often mental distress can overshadow every part of life. My aim is to help reduce suffering, to find deeper understanding, to find healthy ways to cope, to place a high value on your mental health and to explore what else might be possible within the constraints of day-to-day life. I offer acceptance and the willingness to accompany you through your explorations of what is painful or unresolved.
Working with adults 16 and over, I also work specifically with clients in addiction recovery, and with their friends and family members.
Why not get in touch to arrange a no-obligation telephone call. This call is designed to see if we may be well suited to working together. I work remotely, so you can fit therapy easily into your life.
I have a strong belief in our ability to heal and to overcome, no-matter what has gone before. Our past experiences need not define what is possible for the future.
Whatever brings you to counselling, I will listen deeply and attempt to understand your world, in your words. We will together discover how best to approach your challenges, so you don’t feel alone with your struggles.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please feel free to give me a call or send me an email, I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Practice description
I am trained as a Person-Centred/Existential counsellor.
This means I will not coach you or tell you how you should live your life, but instead help you gain deeper self-understanding - to then help you figure out how best to move forward.
Ultimately, we all know in our hearts what is right for our own lives, but we sometimes need someone else to help us uncover this. This is my role.
We can look at what is confusing or suppressed and help to uncover how it may be possible to find acceptance of the past and transform painful feelings into new hope. All human behaviour is understandable on some level, so we can also work to try to release shame and guilt that is being carried from the past.
My aim is to help you to uncover the root cause of what hurts. By doing this, over time we don't have to work so hard at finding coping mechanisms, to deal with symptoms of unprocessed pain. You can feel lighter, freer and less afraid, moving forward.
The existential element of my work involves an opportunity for you to think about what your true values are, what holds meaning for you and how to live in accordance with these things. The more we are able to “unmask” and live in ways that are true to ourselves, the more we can notice that life flows more naturally and that symptoms of anxiety and depression may be lessened.
It may be that you don't know who you really are, so we can work together to uncover this, so you can find more joy and freedom in living.
My first session
In our first session we will run over the contract and talk about what to expect from our therapeutic relationship. Then we can discuss what you are hoping to gain from therapy and we can begin to explore the most pressing issue, straight away.
After the first session, it is fine for you to reflect on how you feel it went, and let me know if you'd like to continue working together. It's important to feel comfortable with your therapist to get the most out of therapy, so I'm happy for you to do one session initially, before you decide.
What I can help with
Abuse, ADD / ADHD, Addictions, Anxiety, Bereavement, Child related issues, Cultural issues, Depression, Infertility, Loss, Men's issues, Personal development, Post-traumatic stress, Pregnancy related issues, Relationships, Self esteem, Sex-related issues, Sexuality, Spirituality, Trauma, Women's issues
