About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome.
I am here to help you explore your world, in your own way.
I offer a warm, open, relaxed, safe and non-judgemental space for you to explore anything you wish. I aim to help you feel comfortable, heard and accepted.
I feel we are all unique and therefore the counselling relationship should be unique too. I will bring my full being into our space and aim to work with you in an authentic, supportive, collaborative manner.
Prior to becoming a counsellor, I worked within the advice, guidance and supported housing sector for many years (L6 in Careers Guidance), working with a diverse caseload of clients. I believe my extensive client work in previous front line services allows me a greater depth of understanding for the issues we can all face and the impact this can have on all aspects of our lives. (*Previous services include; Women's refuge, Citizens Advice, Foyers, Connexions etc).
I have a HE Diploma in person-centred counselling from Glyndwr University and work with individual clients aged 18+.
*There are various local services offering free counselling and mental health support - I am happy to discuss this with anyone*
Practice description
I am a person-centred counsellor, which means I believe that you are the expert in your own life. I will never push, direct or tell you what to do. I will accompany you on your journey, wherever it may take you.
I also have training in CBT, which means I can provide some psychoeducational suggestions to help you to reframe cognitive processes to validate your thoughts, feelings and physical responses.
I feel we can find a way to work through things in a gentle, non-directive, supportive - yet proactive and challenging way.
I incorporate my whole self - my background, skills, life experience, training, knowledge and genuine perceptions in a way to suit you and your needs.
I am based in Hoole (CH2 3NJ), where I provide face to face counselling. I also offer counselling via telephone and online (Zoom) for people who cannot get to me or would prefer to be in the comfort of their own home.
I am passionate about personal and professional growth, some recent training includes: advanced diploma in CBT, relational depth, C-PTSD, menopause matters, ACE's, childhood sexual abuse, sexual violence, dissociation, diploma in child psychology, trauma and eating disorders, pluralistic counselling, single session therapy, online counselling (OU / BACP), LGBTQ+, mental health first aid.
My first session
If you would like to have a chat with me, please get in touch - I would love to hear from you.
I offer a free introductory discussion, which can take place via telephone, email or text - whichever might make you feel the most comfortable.
During this time you can ask me any questions you may have and we can talk through any queries or worries together.
