Each piece of work if co-created personal to the people I am working with and can range from short term targeted sessions to more systemic long term holistic approaches. Working with adult's, young people, family's and organizations.

Drawing on knowledge from: Psychodynamics, CBT, Attachment Theory, neurological development, Person centered, Systemics and play therapy.

Specializing in: Relationships, truama, neurodiversity, mental health diagnosis's, therapeutic parenting, stress, anxiety and depression.

Practice description

I have been lucky enough to work with a wide range of people over my time in the counselling and psychotherapy. I have worked with children and young people, coming from diverse backgrounds and each unique in their own amazing ways. Adults all coming from their own unique backgrounds each with their own special needs from a therapeutic encounter. As well as organizations where I have offered specialist support to individuals and groups/families.

In an ideally world I find it best to book in an introduction session that lasts around 20 minutes that can take place remotely or face to face in my Folkstone office. This allows us to actively face the anxiety of the initial meeting, break the ice and get to  know each other a bit better. Opening the space for questions to ensure we are the best fit to work together and start planning the best way forwards.

During the opening sessions building a healthy safe relationship is of the upmost importance. Personal and unique to each person. This for me is the foundation that allows the space to be made effective for you. Developing a relationship that is filled with unconditional positive regard, trust, authenticity and honesty. Fueled with clear communication and consistency. All coming together to allow you to move forwards in a way that fits you.

My specialist training offers additional support to be included for specialist cases particularly around areas of holistic working, safeguarding and training.

My first session

We kick of the first session with a short check in an some verbal contracting around key areas such as safety and confidentiality. Then we can move in to the main stage of starting to map out what made you want to seek out therapy, any previous experiences and any pre-expectations. We can book in review slots, such as every 6 sessions, and create some structure around any elements of the relationship that need this.

From there its all over to you to make use of the space as you feel best. This can be non-directive (but still contained) or can take on a more directive form of support from myself, depending what we think will work best in the time frames that we have.

The session will then come to an end around the 50 minute mark. Where we will ensure everything is left in a way that feels safe and calming for you.
