About me and my therapy practice
I am passionate about the evidence-based Person-Centred approach to therapy which promotes the therapeutic relationship as key to healing and growth. I don’t analyse, dictate, diagnose, or advise- I listen and work alongside you, paying careful attention to what you need from me and the therapy you receive. I am aligned with the ethos behind positive psychology which supports people to consider their strengths alongside their difficulties, their growth alongside their struggles and to foster the self-compassion that allows them to understand and appreciate themselves more.
Practice description
Person-Centred and Experiential Psychotherapist.
Being person-centred means that I seek to understand how it is for you in your lived experience, and in the present moment of exploration. I am client-led and uphold the inner wisdom of each person as the key to healing and growth.
I will work alongside you, as a real person who will be impacted by you and your experience, and I am able to respond thoughtfully, and with compassion. Paying close attention to the details of your life and experience and sharing what I notice can provide insight and new ways of looking at things.
Incorporating an experiential element in therapy means considering not only named emotions but accessing experiences such as physical sensations or visual images; looking beyond words for distinctly valuable messages about how we experience the world.
When you are truly heard by someone else who accepts and respects you, then you can also hear and understand yourself in a new way, making it easier to find your own direction in life, moving beyond what others expect or want you to be.
My clients report:
finding it easy to talk to me
relief in being able to express themselves in an honest way during our sessions
feeling accepted
supported through difficult times and feeling less alone
appreciating the safety of being able to explore things at their own pace and figure out what is right for them
being able to meet the challenge of knowing themselves better and moving forward with the support of a good relationship
My first session
Our first meeting will be a consultation where we will meet, discuss your issues, and how we can work together. We will make arrangements for regular sessions moving forward.
It is a good way for you to meet me and decide if what I offer as a therapist sounds useful and appropriate. I am happy to discuss referals if you are looking for something different to what I can offer.
This can be online or face-to-face. It usually takes between 30&40 minutes and there is a£25 charge.
