About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I am Kirsten,
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. My main aim within our counselling sessions is to create a safe space where you feel you can talk freely about anything that may be concerning you. I also welcome questions and hope that our relationship means you can be honest not only within our sessions but also around your counselling experience. I am aware that what works for one may not work for another in the counselling process. With that in mind I chose to complete my MSc in Pluralistic counselling which means I can invite you to look at different ways of exploring issues you may have and see collaboration as key .
I understand that at different times in our lives there may be things we want to understand about ourselves and the way we see and behave in our world. We may have issues that we would like to talk about and having a place where you can be held without judgement may be valuable for you. I have worked with individuals with a variety of issues including, addiction, anxiety, self- image, relationship issues and grief and loss.
Practice description
Often you may have some sense of exactly what you want to explore in sessions and sometimes there may be an uneasy felt sense that is leaving you unable to understand what is going on for you.
I will work with you to explore past and present challenging experiences as well as thoughts, feelings and behaviours that may be getting in the way of living the life you want, the way you want to.
I work with all individuals over 18 years old and have had experience working with individuals who are neurodiverse.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute meeting session where you can ask any questions you may have and we can talk about your expectations for counselling. You can then decide if you would want to continue counselling with me. I will then send you a contract that highlights my policies around data handling and confidentiality and asks some questions around the issues you may want to explore in sessions.
After signing and returning the paperwork we will email to confirm session times.
I offer 45minute sessions which cost £55 (£40 for students)
We can then decide if we want to hold sessions weekly or fortnightly.
I like to assess how we feel sessions are going after a few weeks and clarify goals and what is working or otherwise and occasionally I will ask you to provide very brief feedback on how you feel the process is going in general.
