About me and my therapy practice
I believe therapy is a collaborative process that requires at its heart an empathic, safe and trusting connection in a non-judgemental space where you feel safe to talk freely and confidentially about your innermost fears and worries. The relationship that develops between us is key to successful therapy. Once that relationship is established and you feel connected and properly heard, then our work can begin on improving your emotional health and mental wellbeing.
I am a psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist and provide time-limited counselling and open-ended psychotherapy in my private practice in Highgate Village N6 and Muswell Hill N10, and as a volunteer for one of the longest established counselling centres in the UK.
I can offer you a warm, nurturing and confidential space in which to share and explore your thoughts and feelings. Working together we can find ways to understand and manage your problems which can lead to positive transformation and improved emotional wellbeing.
I'm bound by BACP’s ethical code and committed to its high standards of practice and continued professional learning. In addition I have a passionate interest in the latest developments in mental health research attending workshops, reading professional journals and contributing to forums with colleagues. Equality and inclusivity are built into my practice and clients are treated with equal open-mindedness and respect.
Practice description
IN-PERSON SESSIONS: take place in comfortable, private consulting rooms where we will meet every week at the same time for 50 minutes. This will be your space to talk about whatever has been troubling you or causing you anxiety recently or in the past. If you're worried you might struggle to find the words to express yourself, I will help you find them.
ONLINE SESSIONS: are available for those who perhaps due to ill-health, busy travel schedules, being a carer or a need to be in the security of their own homes, prefer to work remotely. I use the most GDPR-secure video platform for online therapy sessions which can be conducted anywhere in the UK or overseas.
My first session
I feel it’s useful for us to talk before making the decision to work together, so offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to discuss what has brought you to therapy and how I might help. If we’re both happy to proceed, we’ll agree a time for an initial assessment where I’ll be asking questions about your past and present circumstances. We will establish whether time-limited counselling or open-ended psychotherapy would be most suitable for you – in-person or online – and agree on a day and time to meet for our weekly 50-minute sessions.
