About me and my therapy practice
As a counsellor, I practice person-centered therapy. This means I prioritise your experiences, emotions, and perspectives. My approach is rooted in warmth and humour, aiming to build a strong therapeutic relationship with you. By fostering a comfortable environment, I encourage openness and trust, essential for effective therapy.
In our sessions, I invite you to explore your difficulties with me. I listen attentively, offering empathy and understanding as we your thoughts and emotions. Rather than imposing solutions, I empower you to uncover insights and solutions within yourself. This process fosters a deeper and more nuanced understanding of yourself, your challenges, and your strengths.
Through our work together, you will gain clarity and perspective on your life circumstances. We explore underlying patterns and beliefs, and support you towards growth and change. By increasing self-awareness, you can develop bespoke coping strategies and skills to manage your life's challenges more effectively. My goal is to equip you with the tools and insights necessary to navigate your journey with greater resilience and confidence.
Humour plays a significant role in our sessions, humanising the work. Laughter can be a powerful tool for healing, providing relief and perspective amidst difficulties. While our work is focused and meaningful, we also embrace moments of levity and joy along the way.
Ultimately, my approach to counselling is collaborative and holistic. I honour your unique experiences and values, tailoring our work to meet your individual needs. Together, we embark on a journey of self-discovery and growth, unlocking your potential for positive change and well-being.
Where I can I will make reasonable adaptations to the work to accommodate any neurodivergent needs that might otherwise inhibit the work.
Practice description
I named my private practice Upcycle Couselling to reflect my values. Some parts of ourselves that might not seem useful at first, or even an outright hinderance, but in the right context and understanding, those things can become some of our greatest strengths. My aim in any counselling relationship is to help clients understand why they react and behave the way they do, with a view to giving them more options when they find themselves in challenging situations.
I am currently based in 2 rooms for face to face session. Wednesday evenings I see clients from Dialogue & Space by Easter road stadium. Wednesday afternoon and Thursday afternoon and evening I see clients at 10 Palmerston Place in the west end. I offer online sessions on Tuesday morning and afternoon. All sessions are an hour long and cost £60 per session. I offer both short and long term work, and invite clients to continue with the work as long as it feels useful and valuable to them.
My first session
I offer all clients a free 15 minute consultation should they wish to ask any questions about counselling with me, and to share anything they want me to know before the work starts. Prior to our first session I send out clients my working contract and intake form which covers the clients contact details, emergency contact, and a few safeguarding questions.
