About me and my therapy practice
Talking to a trained professional can help you explore your concerns, thoughts and feelings and improve relationships and your mental wellbeing. The goal of the therapy is to know yourself more fully, become more whole, and live your life more richly.
Together we will explore the difficulties that bring you to therapy, focussing on relationships now and in your past. I work in a compassionate and supportive way, understanding how difficult it is to start therapy. Our work together is confidential and I adhere to the BACP framework for ethical practice and British Psychoanalytic Council standards of conduct, practice and ethics.
About Me:
Working in private practice and with the NHS, I am a trained and qualified Psychodynamic Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I have experience working in private, public and third sectors and registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP).
I also work as a Specialist Psychodynamic Psychotherapist in secondary care with South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust with experience working with complex trauma and personality disorders.
Qualifications:
Certificate of Higher Education (Cert. H.E.) - Psychodynamic Counselling & Counselling Skills, Birkbeck, University of London
Master of Science (MSc.) - Psychodynamic Counselling & Psychotherapy, Birkbeck, University of London
Practice description
Counselling - Time limited with a focus, online or in person
Usually 24 sessions we focus on a particular problem or set of problems. We will meet weekly for 50 minutes and will work together to help you find your own solutions – whether that’s making effective changes in your life or finding ways of coping with your problems.
Psychotherapy - Long term/open ended, online or in person
This kind of therapy addresses underlying issues and causes, often from your past, which may be concerning you, or affecting your relationships with others. In your sessions you will be encouraged to talk freely and to look deeper into your problems and worries. This is not a quick fix therapy, sessions are 50 minutes, once or twice weekly and treatment generally last for 2 years or longer.
My first session
Research shows the most important thing in bringing about change is the relationship you have with your counsellor or psychotherapist, so together, we will decide what service will suit you in addressing your needs and overcoming the challenges that bring you to therapy.
We will meet for an initial consultation to discuss the problems that bring you to therapy and decide how to proceed, this consultation will last around 90 minutes and there is a fee of £90.
I would be happy to arrange a free initial 10 minute telephone conversation to address any queries you may have.
