Currently I have availability for morning, daytime, evening and weekend appointments face to face, online and by telephone.About me and my therapy practice
Whatever the difficulty, dilemma, challenge, issue or sorrow, I believe you already took the first step towards healing and change by finding your way here. Counselling can help to process, make sense of and move past your struggles in a meaningful and empowering way.
My way of working involves building on the therapeutic relationship, trust and a collaborative dialogue with you, in aim to sensitively navigate through the labyrinth of experiences in your life and mind. I facilitate a non-judgmental environment and a confidential space to explore and validate your thoughts, feelings and emotions, while cultivating self-development and transformative growth. During the therapy process, you will engage in self-reflection and exploration at your own pace, thereby enabling greater self-awareness to acknowledge and address difficult feelings, unhelpful thoughts and behaviour patterns that hold you back or keeping you stuck from moving forward. You will recognise the values and personal goals that are in line with your authentic self and will be able to apply these to unlock your full potential.
Practice description
I work pluralistically, which means that I draw on different approaches and tailor the therapy to suit your individual needs. I believe that you are the expert of your life and encourage you to be an active participant in a decision-making process that shapes your therapy sessions. A collaborative dialogue enables us to identify your preferences and utilise any personal strengths and (cultural) resources you would consider helpful in meeting your aims and goals.
My Training: I am fully insured, and DBS checked integrative therapist, qualified with a First Class (BSc Hons) Counselling Degree, Accredited course by the BACP.
My Experience includes working with BAME communities in a culturally sensitive therapy capacity. I delivered open ended therapy to clients experiencing a range of psychological difficulties, including work related stress, identity crisis, childhood trauma, sexual abuse, depression, anxiety, domestic violence, emotional/social isolation and suicidal ideation. I also have a keen interest and experience in developing and delivering mental health projects to vulnerable communities.
My first session
I offer a free, 20-minute telephone conversation to answer any questions you may have, get a feel if I am right for you and to tell me about you/ what kind of help you are seeking from counselling. Should you then choose myself as your therapist; in our first session we will discuss your preferential way of working, explore presenting issues, therapy aims and set goals, which will be regularly reviewed and may change as therapy progresses.
