About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Sue, I am a Person-Centred Counsellor. I'm passionate about helping people through times of difficulty and when you may feel you need some support. I can provide a welcoming, safe, confidential and non-judgmental space where you will be able to explore your worries and concerns. I will help you to navigate the issues that you have come to counselling with and hopefully you will see a clearer way through, what may be a difficult and stressful time.
My working background was as teaching assistant within primary school settings, where I supported children's educational and emotional needs. This include SENCO, special need support and counselling for parent separation, illnesses, loses and abuse. My work is now focused primarily on adults and teenagers.
I qualified as a Person-Centred counsellor to degree level, with a BSc Hons from the University of Derby. During the last seven years, I have been a volunteered counsellor for a local charity that supports lone parent and their families. My work there has been varied, and I have supported clients with many complexed needs. This in turn has given me a wide range of experiences on which I can draw from. I now work in privet practice and can offer face to face counselling sessions alongside telephone session. I work in a safe, comfortable environment.
I continue to develop my knowledge and experience and undertake regular supervision and training to maintain professional development.
I am a Registered Member of the BACP and follow their ethical guidelines.
Practice description
My person-centred approach allows you to go at your own pace, exploring your own feelings and gives you the time and space to reflect on the struggles you may be dealing with at that moment in your life. I believe that person-centred counselling can be incredibly rewarding and empowering.
My approach aims to help you feel less alone and more able to process difficulties, emotions, stresses, and traumas that you are facing or have faced in the past. Allowing you to find solutions that are right for you.
I work from an office at my home where I can offer a quiet, confidential space in a relaxing room. Parking is easily accessed at the property.
My first session
I feel that the first step is the hardest making contact but please feel free to take your time and be assured that I will make you feel as comfortable and at ease as possible. The first session is a good time to explore what brought you to counselling and what may help you going forward.
Please feel free to telephone me and if I can’t answer, please leave a message and I will call you back. Or you can e-mail me, and I will get back to you as soon as I can. I’ll always do my best to answer any question no matter how big or small they my seem.
