About me and my therapy practice
I am currently a BACP registered practitioner (MBACP) in the UK. My training until now includes MSc in Counselling, PGD in Investigative and Forensic Psychology, BA Honours in Psychology. Beyond which, over the years I have attended professional development courses which have allowed me to broaden the horizons of my practice.
I am an Integrative Practitioner, who brings together various modalities as per the needs of the individuals. I offer security, confidentiality and safety during the sessions through active listening, empathy, and an accepting attitude. The eventual aim is to allow the client to get in touch with their own self in order to actualise on their inherent potential and overcome obstacles.
By fostering therapeutic collaboration, clients are empowered through increased insight, self awareness.
Practice description
There may be a variety of different needs, goals, and obstacles. There is no one size that fits all, which is why I aspire to tailor everyone's journey as per what they bring along.
The approach I use is an integration of cognitive based and humanistic processes, along with which I incorporate grounding and mindfulness based techniques. This allows me to creatively tailor each client’s journey with respect to the needs they present with. This allows one to observe the bio-psycho-social feedback within the client to identify their obstacles in life (e.g, trauma, anxiety, motivation, relationship issues etc.) and help them become grounded and more aware of their own patterns of behaviour and thought. Within this process, the increase in insight allows the clients an aware and grounded approach to managing the situation at hand. The client centred and client led process is geared towards understanding your story, through understanding and embracing your experiences and past in order to integrate it with the present you. This allows therapeutic collaboration to foster which empowers the client through increased insight, self awareness. This also allows ones own needs to be understood, and thus successfully managed.
An ideal client is anyone who has realised the need for support with their mental health and is willing to invest effort into their own self development. There may be a variety of different needs, goals, and obstacles. There is no one size that fits all, which is why I aspire to tailor everyone's journey as per what they bring along. I have a rich history of working in mental health which has exposed me to a variety of people and situations. I build on my breadth of knowledge and experience to best serve every client with a tool-kit of evidence based techniques in the safety of therapeutic exchange whilst respecting each clients’ confidentiality and boundaries.
Please get in touch to discuss things further.
My first session
Initial contact- Free of charge
If requested, I will contact you via email/phone call (depending on the client's preference). This is to provide a basic overview of therapy, and answer any questions you may have about me and my practice. The initial conversation is aimed at reassuring the client and allowing you to gauge if I am a right fit for you to work with, as therapy is a very personal, intricate process.
The First Session-
The first session is a 50 minute introduction to the structure of the therapy, an explanation of confidentiality and therapeutic boundaries. It is also aimed at completing a base-level needs assessment, this will help me in understanding what you would like to explore during our sessions, your expectations from therapy, and for us to establish any goals that you may have.
We will also discuss, and sign the counselling contract - this helps you as the client, in developing an understanding of the counselling process, what to expect from it, agreeing to the frequency of the sessions, and ask any questions you may wish to ask.
The therapeutic environment during sessions is primarily grounded in the client centred, collaborative pursuit of enabling my clients to harness their inherent potential to meet their therapeutic goals. I aspire to bring together the clients' mind, body and soul in order to address any obstacles in their mental, behavioural, social and emotional health. Therefore, through the sessions the client leads the way in helping me understand their story. The gradual increase in insight allows the development of a grounded approach which aids the process of facing the challenges and overcoming them collaboratively, in a secure, accepting and non-judgmental space.
