About me and my therapy practice

I'm an experienced Online & Outdoor Counsellor. My key client groups are from the International community, such as Expats, Repats, and Adult Third-Culture Kids. Others are often from unconventional backgrounds or lifestyles.

Why do I focus on the International community?

I recognise that our rich life experiences can be wonderful, but they can also be filled with hidden challenges that can make dealing with life's ups and downs more complicated.

For example:

  • Navigating cultural adjustment, different cultural compasses and underlying beliefs/expectations
  • Accumulation of hidden losses and unresolved grief
  • Complex identity, sense of self, and belonging

The hidden challenges could lead to internal conflicts and unhelpful coping mechanisms.

Sometimes, we just want to be understood and supported by someone who has similar lived experiences, who can truly connect and empathise with us without so many words.

How can I help?

That depends on what you hope to achieve from counselling. Maybe that’s to gain more clarity and self-trust, feel more in control of your life journey, or feel lighter and know that you’ll be OK even if things are not OK. If developing different coping skills is what you need, it’s about finding what’s relevant for you and for your life now.

Our session is a dedicated time in a safe zone for you to explore, process, reflect and experiment. It’s for you to discover 'you' and the answers that are right for you.

At the centre of my approach are: developing self-awareness, befriending/tolerating emotions, building self-compassion and self-trust. I aim to help you connect to the different aspects of yourself, so you can respond to your internal and external challenges differently.

A little about me

I would describe my life journey as 'colourful', with different cultures and backgrounds, and various shades of life and work experiences. Therefore, my approach is affirming, compassionate, and sensitive to cultural and lifestyle choices and challenges.

I’m an integrative and trauma-informed counsellor. This means I'm trained in multiple approaches to therapy and I integrate different approaches into my work, depending on my client's needs. It also means I understand how trauma and long-term negative experiences could affect our body and mind - our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.

I often lean into creativity in my work. You can expect anything from laughter and tears, colours and metaphors, to the odd grunting and jumping around (hopefully, together!), although I tend to adapt my delivery depending on your style.

  • Online Counselling, including Email Counselling (UK & Thailand)
  • Outdoor Counselling (Warwick)
  • 90-minute Single Session (an alternative to traditional counselling)

I offer a free 15-minute introductory chat for us to get a sense of each other, ask questions, and see if we may be the right fit.

I get that 15 minutes may not feel like much to determine if I'm the right counsellor for you. I encourage you to consider how you feel when you're talking to me...

  • Do you feel able to ask me questions?
  • Do you feel that I'm empathetic and interested in what you have to say?
