About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I am Ganiyat. I once was a client, but now, I am an Accredited Integrative Child and Adult Counsellor and a Well-being Practitioner. Adverse life events such as losing interest in activities of daily living, agoraphobia, the loss of loved ones, anxiety, depression, job issues, redundancy, relationship problems, fear, work-related stress, COVID-19 effect, suicidal thoughts/ ideation, or children's behavioural challenges can be overwhelming and appear uneasy to cope with. At TGC Low-Cost Counselling & Psychotherapy Service, you are Never ALONE; I am happy to support you!

I work with individuals and families ages 4 to 65 using CBT, Person-Centered, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Psychodynamic, Narrative, Creative and Art, Filial or Family, Relational, and Transpersonal therapies, and a Trauma-Informed Approach. I am passionate about my work and adapt my practice to ensure that it is client-centred. I love interacting with people and consider being part of my clients' positive, life-changing experiences a privilege.

I understand that for healing and growth to occur, there must be a connection. So, I offer a human-to-human connection by not judging or criticising my clients. Instead, I provide a compassionate, confidential, empathic, and safe space to support my clients in their journey of discovery and recovery.

I collaborate with individual clients to tailor my approach to meet clients from diverse backgrounds, races, and cultural needs. Collaborative work assists in the treatment plan because I consider each client's circumstances, experiences, and cultural background unique. I do this because I understand that no two experiences are the same. This understanding enhances my client's ability to discover how to solve their own problems and work on their desired changes in their journey of self-discovery and self-recovery management. It further promotes my capability to reach out to the broader community.

Practice description

HELP IS AVAILABLE; YOU ARE NOT ALONE! I AM HAPPY TO HELP.

I am an experienced counsellor. I offer In-person & Online therapy. I have worked and am currently working with people of diverse backgrounds. I engage with children, young people, and adults in a long or short therapeutic relationship. These range from age five to sixty with challenging behaviour, anxiety, grief, depression, phobia, guilt, stress, loss, panic attacks, shame, eating disorder and relationship issues. I provide a safe space for my clients under the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) framework. I have worked with children in various primary schools and preschool settings, engaging with them during play to enhance their learning and promote positive relationships with them and their primary caregivers, such as parents. The experiences currently serve as valuable tools for facilitating children's therapy sessions.

I observe confidentiality, enabling my clients to explore and express their thoughts and feelings in a nonjudgmental environment. I am passionate about my work and demonstrate empathic understanding to my clients. Doing so allows me to build rapport and appropriate therapeutic relationships and work collaboratively with them. Hence, my clients freely expressed, explored and were empowered to achieve and sustain their therapy goals.

I provide inclusive support for all my clients in their self-discovery and recovery journey. I value and respect my client's right to self-governing (autonomy).

I believe in treating others as I will treat myself.

I create an atmosphere of safety where anyone needing mental health support feels secure, heard, understood, supported, and empowered. This sense of safety and empowerment is at the core of my practice, ensuring you can confidently embark on your journey of self-discovery and recovery.

I provide a unique, quality therapeutic experience that empowers my clients through their journey of self-discovery & recovery.
